It’s a two hour drive from here to there so we decided to take the car instead of the van because it gets better gas mileage. That was a HUGE mistake because all the kids did was fight! Thankfully they slept a good part of the way home. They were making us crazy!
When we arrived at my grandma’s house we went straight to check out the new baby goats! I know. It’s not a very traditional Thanksgiving activity but my family is a bit weird. We do what we want to do. We spend a lot of time hanging out outside and doing crazy redneck stuff. If we didn’t it just wouldn’t be the same!
Here are the goat holding/chasing photos! This is Alexis with Pumpkin Longman. She was so thrilled to catch him. It was too funny watching her running around trying to corner him so she could pick him up.
This Jordan with Boo Longman. (These new babies were born the day before Halloween so Jordan named them with a Halloween theme.)
After they were done petting the goats, the kids decided that they wanted to go worm hunting with Uncle Buddy. He pours a soapy solution on the ground and the worms come up to the surface. It’s a good way to get free bait for your fish hook! The kids just like checking the worms out.
More worm hunting photos… The cutie pie on the right is one of my my nephews. He’s got the most beautiful blue eyes.
After trying several different places they found some worms. Jordan was the only one brave enough to pick them up so she got to be the keeper of the worms! Join me in saying “Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww”. Trust me, I made her SCRUB her hands when she came in the house.
She was absolutely fascinated with the worms so she was heartbroken when I told her that she couldn’t bring them home with us. I made her put them in Maw Maw’s garden.
This next set of photos totally makes me laugh because they remind me of those Jeff Foxworthy jokes. (As in: You might be a redneck if you go tractor surfing before you eat Thanksgiving dinner. LOL) My grandpa built this sled for the kids and attached a chair to it. Then they towed it with the lawn tractor. You just can’t make this stuff up!
This is my cousin Katie Lynn and Jordan. My brother Trey is driving. I was the overprotective Mom and wouldn’t let Jordan ride by herself.
Alexis Ariel did convince me to let her go by herself. She giggled so much I was worried she would fall off!
My Mom (AKA Maw Maw Honey) went with Brandon. He was absolutely thrilled. Not just with riding the sled, but with spending time with my Mom. He hasn’t seen her in a while and has been asking for her. I love how happy they both are in this photo.
Then we drove the tractor up to the levee so we could all see the river. Brandon and I raced up it, and Ronnie helped Jordan.
Jordan got furious because she couldn’t do it by herself and she ended up crying. The incline was just too steep. I was trying to get her to pose for a photo with Ronnie but she was so not into it.
When we got back to the house we played with my new nephew Zachary! He is a cutie pie and a half. Look at those big brown eyes. I got to feed him and put him to sleep. He was so sweet!
After we played for a while Thanksgiving lunch was ready! My Mom and grandparents are amazing cooks and my Uncle Buddy made the best green beans too. Yummy! The kids even ate them. I made pineapple upside down cake. It’s not traditional either but my grandpa really likes it and that’s all that matters! Everyone raved over it which is always awesome.
We headed home after lunch because I was worried about Lady being home by herself for so long. (More details on that in a bit.) The kids fell asleep in the back seat after about an hour of driving. Ronnie and I were extremely grateful for the quiet!
That night after we got home Jordan had an accident! She was reaching over the baby gate to get a toy and she fell face first over the gate. She hit her mouth on the toy she had been reaching for and knocked out her two top front teeth. They were a little bit loose before but they were definitely not ready to come out. There was blood EVERYWHERE!!! It scared me half to death. She was frightened at first, but after she calmed down she reminded me that now she would get to sing “All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth”. I laughed and cried at the same time. That child is something!
The reason why we came home early on Thanksgiving was to be with our dog Lady. She hasn’t been doing at all well health wise. We are thinking that we don’t have long left with her. I called the veterinarian's office today to see what arrangements we would have to make to have her put to sleep. It’s that bad. We were hoping that she would make it until Christmas but we really don’t want her to be in pain. Please say a prayer for our family because I just know that losing her is going to be really hard on all of us.
Lady sat on the couch with me today while I did my digital scrapbook pages that are due this week for my Jessica Sprague creative team work. It was a nice way for me to get to spend some time quiet with her and it helped take my mind off of things.
Here is one of the layouts that I came up with today. There will be another one tomorrow but I can’t post that one yet.
Supplies: Crystal Wilkerson's Rounded Corner Templates, Crystal Wilkerson's November 2009 Eye Candy, Kitschy Digitals' Vintage Cameras Kit, Kitschy Digitals' Granny's Attic Kit, and Kitschy Digitals' Fabric Covered Buttons.

I’m so mean! I also made them wait until I took a photo of them at the table.
I had my camera on high ISO because if I use any other setting in my dining room everything comes out horribly orange. Here’s Jordan digging in!
Brandon loved the mashed potatoes. Say cheese! Or turkey!
Alexis was not thrilled with the family time. She wanted to watch TV instead. Oh I can’t WAIT for the teen years.
She did like decorating the Christmas tree. Apparently that’s cooler than having a family dinner.
This photo just melts my heart. All three kids and a Christmas tree. Aww!
Another photo I love… Brandon hugging the Christmas themed Pooh Bear while staring at the tree.
I absolutely love this time of year! Not just for the awesome photo opportunities either!
I also have digital layouts to share today! It’s More In Store Monday at JessicaSprague.com.
I thought Danielle’s new feathers would work really well with this photo of Alexis in her boa and feather headband.
Journaling: Alexis, I love this photo. With your feather boa and headband you look like an old school diva.
Supplies: Kitschy Digitals Granny’s Attic Kit, Kitschy Digitals Vintage Camera Kit, and Kitschy Digitals Monotone Fresh Feathers.
Here’s my second one! I did a layout about ME.
Journaling: I love music! I sing in the shower and the car. My iPod has over 1,000 songs on it and I listen to it every single day. Music soothes my soul and makes me happy. My music so totally rocks! Nov. 2010
Supplies: Cosmo Cricket’s The Boyfriend Paper Pack, and Cosmo Cricket’s The Boyfriend Candy Candy.

(If you are looking for the Scraptastic Club blog hop please scroll down!)
We put our Christmas tree up last night and the kids loved putting the ornaments on it. I’m thinking that it needs some garland though so maybe on the next trip to the store I’ll grab some. We also don’t have a tree topper because ours broke last year. Our tree is looking a bit like Charlie Brown’s but it’s okay! I’ll jazz it up. We put it up so early because we are going to be traveling down to my grandparent’s house on Thanksgiving and I’ll be too worn out from all of the driving and kid wrangling to do it the day after.
We are having a small Thanksgiving dinner here today for just our family. We were supposed to have company that we specifically scheduled this dinner for but it fell through. Instead of being disappointed, I’m going to enjoy the quiet time with our family and cook the food that I bought for the dinner so it doesn’t go to waste. I can always freeze leftovers!
I have lots more cooking to do but I wanted to drop by briefly to tell you that I have a post up at the Ideas for Scrapbookers blog today! It includes a sketch for paper scrapbookers and a free layered digital template for digital scrappers. You can check it out here!

(If you are looking for the Scraptastic Club blog hop post please scroll down.)
I’m here to continue my thankful post from yesterday but first I want to share an bit from a blog I read this morning.
If you haven’t been to the Brave Girl’s Club blog, you should click as fast as your fingers can to get over there! Their posts are SO meaningful, so supportive, and often tell me something I need to hear before I even know I need to hear it. Here’s the piece of today’s post that resonated with me…
“You burned dinner last night. You have a full day today and none of your favorite clothes fit. There’s negative stuff going on all around you. But you see the big picture…all of the goodness and abundance around you…you see that the roses are worth the thorns….and you choose to BE HAPPY ANYWAY.”
Wow. I was just talking about all of the negative stuff that I’ve been dealing with here yesterday, and then last night was awful and I just felt myself getting totally discouraged. Then I logged in this morning to see this! Things have been rough, but I have to remember to look at the goodness around me. I have to focus on the positive. If I stay positive, the negative things don’t seem so big!
So today I’m going to list my gratitudes here, and then I’m going to put up my Christmas tree and listen to Christmas music no matter who says it’s too early. Then I’m going to watch Christmas movies and drink hot cocoa with my children and my husband and I am going to BE HAPPY ANYWAY!
1.) I am grateful for blogs. I have learned so many things from so many people that I would’ve never been able to “meet” in real life. I just love that everyone can have their own little corner of the internet to say what they need to say!
2.) I am grateful for my local radio station. I turned it on this morning and there was Christmas music! Now I’ll have something to listen to while I decorate the tree.
3.) I am thankful for coffee! I don’t know what I would do without it. It helps me wake up and function. I need something to help me keep up with these busy kiddos!
4.) I’m grateful for my husband who loaded the dishwasher for me and cleaned up the kitchen without me asking this morning.
5.) I am grateful for the fact that Brandon still likes to cuddle with me. It just melts my heart. All is right with the world when you cuddle the cutest boy ever! (I’m not biased or anything!!)
That’s all for today!! Don’t forget to drop by the Brave Girls Club. I promise you won’t regret it. P.S. Bring tissues!

As my part of the blog hop I'm sharing a layout I made with the current November kit and add on called Falling For Fall.
Journaling: Fall is a bit different here in Louisiana. We can still hang out on the beach and dip our toes in the water. We love the cooler air that Fall brings! 10/2010
I have to say that my favorite part of this kit was the huge leaf embellies! I also loved the little stamp sets for adding detail to falling leaves. Who am I kidding? I loved it all!
If you would like to find out more information about Scraptastic Club you can visit the forum where I am currently hosting weekly challenge #12. Here's the link if you would like to drop by and participate! It's a sketch challenge where you have to use Fall colors.
Also, don't forget to play the scavenger hunt on Jessica's blog! (See link above.) The prize for the winner is a full Scraptastic Club Falling For Fall kit like the one I used to create my layout! Pretty cool right?

I got a blog award from my friend Michelle the other day and I didn’t even realize it until I logged into her blog to return a comment! Thanks so much Michelle, I really love chatting with you too. You have become a true friend!
Here are the rules to this blog award…
1. Thank the person who gave it to you.
2. Put the award on your blog.
3. Share three things about yourself that you enjoy doing.
4. Pass the award onto five people.
Things I enjoy doing…
1. I really really enjoy scrapbooking. A lot! It distracts me and keeps me busy. It’s my stress release at the end of a busy day. I love creating my pages and telling my stories!
2. I love singing. I’ve always loved singing! I can remember singing with my brothers when I was little. I was in the choir in high school. You can always find me walking around the house singing. My kids even do it too! I have an addiction to Wii games that involve singing as well.
3. I enjoy hanging out on the internet. Facebook, forums, blogs, and blogging.
My five people…
1. Nancy is a wonderful scrapbooker and has been a friend of mine for YEARS. Her blog is beautifully designed, and she shares her wonderful scrapbook pages on it!
2. Julie is an absolutely awesome writer. I love visiting her blog because even when she talks about going to the grocery store her posts are fun and really well written!
3. Leah is my kindred spirit! We have so much in common that it’s strange sometimes. She makes me laugh and smile. She is a fantastic photographer!
4. Liz is a sewing maven who absolutely quilts her heart out. She shares her love for quilting, her family, and her adorable cats who love to lounge on her quilts on her blog!
5. Amanda is a digital and paper scrapbooker just like me! There aren’t too many of us out there so we have to stick together. Her blog design is also adorable! You have to check it out!!
I am sure that you all have noticed the lack of personal updates on this blog lately. The reason behind that is because I was raised to believe if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Things have been rather rough here lately, and I didn’t want to post all about it and be a negative Nelly!
Thankfully, things are looking up! Alexis has leveled out on her medicine other than a bit of hyperactivity which is MUCH better than what we were dealing with. She is being a lot more loving and less angry which is great! Jordan is doing very well in school and she is amazingly smart. She comes up with something new every day to make me laugh. Brandon is my cuddly boy. He could happily spend every spare moment of time reading books with me. His vocabulary has exploded! The other day we went to the vets office to pick up medicine for Lady and he said, “Oh NO, Momma!” “You forgot Lady!” He’s noticing cause and effect and he loves to tell me “I love you Momma.” so I’ll tell him “I love you too.” So sweet!
I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it here before, but I frequently struggle to be more of a positive person. It’s definitely easier to be positive when things are looking up, but I try! So today, I’m going to list a few things I’m thankful for. Then, I’m going to come back tomorrow and do the same thing again. Feel free to chime in with what you are thankful for too in the comment section! I’d love to hear some positive thoughts!
1. I am thankful for the roof over my head, and that I have a super cool red minivan to chauffer my children around in. I’m also thankful that my awesome husband cleans it so I don’t have to.
2. I am thankful that we had the money to sponsor the other child through the Salvation Army for Christmas! I hope that through doing that we can teach our children more about what Christmas is really supposed to be about!
3. I am thankful that I will be spending Thanksgiving with my grandparents, my Mom, and the rest of my family. It will be wild and crazy, but it’s always FUN!
4. I am thankful that I got 30 minutes to shave my legs. (AKA I am thankful that I don’t look like Chewbacca anymore!) I know that’s a weird thing to be grateful for but when you have three kids time is a valuable commodity!
5. I am thankful for scrapbooking because it keeps me busy and occupied preserving my memories. I am especially thankful for the design teams I’m on that allow me to create and share ideas with them!
That’s all for today, but like I said, I’ll be back tomorrow. Oh, and speaking of scrapbooking… I almost forgot. I have MORE news!

Remember that super secret guest blogger gig I told you about? Well… the cat’s out of the bag! My first post for this month is up today over at Flamingo Scraps. I worked with the fabulous Fancy Pants Wishful Thinking line and made some super girly layouts! I also have a tutorial on using Glimmer Mist to wet and shape flowers.
Here’s a peek at one of the layouts!
That’s not all I have to share with you today! It’s One Buck Wednesday over at JessicaSprague.com, and I’ve got some serious sharing to do!
This first layout is about my love for exploring new places and learning new things with Brandon. I used Creativity by Crystal’s latest template. I absolutely love how she hides little random goodies in the template like polka dot overlays. Such an awesome idea!
Supplies: November Collection Eye Candy Elements Pack, November Collection Happy Little Owls, November 2009 Fall Word Art, November 2009 Paper Collection, and Inspired By Susan Weinroth Template #7. All from Creativity By Crystal!
On that layout, I also included my own handwriting from my Wacom tablet (on top of the tape). I learned how to do that in Jessica Sprague's Pen Tablet Basics for Scrapbookers class.
Here’s the second (sort of) layout!
It’s the newsletter that I’ll be sending out with my Christmas cards this year!!! I loved using Liv’s template to design the newsletter. It was totally easy to customize to my taste!
Supplies: The buttons were from Creativity By Crystal's December 2009 Freebie, Creativity By Crystal’s December 2009 Paper Collection, December 2009 Holiday Décor Elements Pack, and Liv.E Designs In The News Template 03.
That’s all I’ve got for now, but not for long!!! I am creating like a madwoman with my Scraptastic Club Falling For Fall kit! I’ll be sharing those before you know it.
Monday, November 15, 2010
More specifically… heaven is in my scrap room right this minute! I got an amazing goodie filled box from Scraptastic Club today. I am SO looking forward to playing with these awesome supplies!
Who needs to cook dinner? Not me! I’ve got better things to do.
Want to see what I got? This fabulous kit is called Falling For Fall and it’s the one I’ll be doing design team work with. I’ll post the layouts as soon as I get them done!!!
Isn’t it absolutely gorgeous?! Perfect for Fall and Thanksgiving layouts!!! Those yellow Thickers are AWESOME. I also got the Falling For Fall Add On with the cutest stickers ever! Oh and check out those super sweet Fall themed stamps. I can not wait to play!!!
I also ended up buying Jessica’s Pyrus kit! It was just too pretty to pass up and I have some photos of Brandon and Alexis playing in the lake that will work perfectly with the colors. Check it out!!!
Those stick pins Jessica made are fantastic! I also got the cardstock add on for that kit too. You can really never ever have enough card stock!
Needless to say, my desk is so covered with goodies that I can barely reach the computer to type! The solution… I’ve got to go scrap! Tomorrow I’ll be back to reveal where I’m guest blogging. Very exciting!
I was reminded of this when my husband informed me that he decided to sponsor a child for Christmas this year though the Salvation Army. He printed out the form that the child filled out as her wish list and gave it to me when he got home from work. There was only one thing listed in the wish list box. Girl themed sheets. Sheets? Wow. My kids want the latest Wii game, or walking talking robotic toy that costs an absolute fortune and this child wants sheets. It really brings things into perspective. She didn’t even list what type of toys she liked or anything.
Today I had a shopping spree on Target.com. I called the Salvation Army center and they told me that they will not wrap the presents, so I’m having them shipped to me first so I can wrap them and then send them on to Mississippi where they will give them to her. There’s just something about unwrapping Christmas presents that’s special. I really hope that we help make her Christmas brighter. If you are interested in this project, you can check out all of the information at the link below. Ronnie and I have decided to do it yearly now.
In other news, I’m also super thankful for my spot on the Jessica Sprague creative team this year! I’ve already met so many wonderful girls in the short time I’ve been creating for them. I can’t get over the warm welcome I received! It’s like a huge extended family.
For my latest project, I created this layout featuring a very messy spaghetti monster named Jordan. This kid used to be VERY serious about her spaghetti. She’d even eat any that she found on her arms after she was done with what was in her bowl!
Cosmo Cricket’s Early Bird Paper Pack, Cosmo Cricket’s Early Bird Elements Pack, Cosmo Cricket's Oh Joy Candy Candy, and Cosmo Cricket’s Nutmeg Alpha (Recolored).
That’s all for now, but I’ve got TONS more projects coming up this week. More Jessica Sprague, some Scraptastic Club, and a little secret guest blogger stuff that I’ve been working on quietly over here! Shhh…
