Birthday Bash!

I got a phone call on Friday that Jordan’s leg braces were ready. We went in to pick them up and they had ordered the wrong type of braces again. I was super upset! They did the same thing last time and I didn’t force them to re-order them on their dollar. This time… I am. I’ve also decided that if it happens again we’re finding a new orthopedics place. I really like the guy who runs the place and he’s super sweet to Jordan so I hope we don’t have to go that route.

We left their office and rushed to vision therapy for the girls. I found out that there was no reason to hurry after we got there early! I made the kids wait in the van with me until it was almost time for their actual appointment. Why? They also sell glasses there and they are all out on display. It’s like releasing three extremely hyper bulls in a china shop. Or one bull and two cows, but I don’t think my girls would like being called cows. Oh well. Whatever!

After vision therapy we went to Party City to get stuff for favor bags for Miss J’s party on Saturday. I ended up spending $67.00 on favors, a balloon, some icing tint, and a cake pan. Yikes! When the woman told me the total, I pulled out my debit card to pay. As I did, Jordan told the woman in a very snobby voice… “My Mommy gets me whatever I want.” The cashier said, “You must be a very good girl then.” I told the lady that she is a VERY good girl, but she’s fibbing when she says that I get her whatever she wants. LOL The truth is that she’s only kinda fibbing because all three of these kiddos are rotten!

The next stop was Wal-mart. I needed to buy the rest of the cake making stuff because apparently none of the bakeries around my house make “Hello Kitty” cakes. That was the party theme Jordan wanted and I searched everywhere. We had already themed the invites and some of the party stuff as Hello Kitty so it was too late to back out and change it. So I had to bake the cake.  Here’s a secret… I’m not the best cake decorator ever. I tried really hard though. I was up unto the wee hours of the morning. This is what I came up with.

When she woke up this morning and saw it she was absolutely thrilled. That was all that mattered to me. I got a little frustrated with the brown of the cake showing through the white of the icing. It had been a really long night. Having her be so happy with it totally made up for it.

She had her party this morning at the Bounce House in Mandeville, Louisiana. We had it there because it’s so convenient. I don’t have a messy house after the party and I get to go home and relax! (More on that later.)

Miss Jojo was thrilled when she got a prize out of the grabber machine. They have a bunch of games that you can play for tokens kind of like Chuck E Cheese. My Mom was nice enough to buy a pile of tokens for all of the kiddos at the party. They really appreciated it and so did I!

I don’t have any photos of them jumping in the bouncers because again, my camera was acting insane. I keep resetting it and I’m just having a really hard time getting it to work right. Ugh. I do have this photo of Jordan getting ready to blow out her candle.

And this photo of all of the party guests! Nearly everyone we invited showed up. Even some who didn’t RSVP. Thank goodness I brought extra favor bags. Two people who are really important to Jordan didn’t show up and her feelings were really hurt. It’s too much to go into here but she even ended up teary eyed about it later in the day after we got home.

The grown  ups were all hiding in the back of this photo. Off camera! I promise I didn’t watch all of these kiddos on my own. I’m good, but not THAT good.

Last but not least, my girl got to open her presents. She got lots of good stuff including money. On the way home in the van she announced to Ronnie and I that she is rich. She’s probably got more money than I do now after throwing this party! Hehe

Jordan was so cute while she was opening her presents. She’d announce who it was from and then loudly thank them while explaining why she loved the gift so much. After we got home, she announced that she had to send emails to thank people for the presents from her own email that we set up for her a week or so ago. Because “She has lots of friends and needs to communicate!”

She got to send her emails later in the evening, but first she and I sacked out together in my bed. We took a two hour nap! There may or may not have been drool involved. (Eww!)  Before we fell asleep I told her the story about how I met her for the first time, and how very excited I was to become her Mommy. Then we talked about her adoption. She also asked me if being older meant she’d have to move out one day. I told her no. With her special needs it’s something that Ronnie and I have discussed. If she needs to live here forever, we’re fine with it. (In fact, I’d rather it but she may not once she gets bigger and more independent.) I thought about all of these things and more as I cuddled her to me and listened to her breathing while she fell asleep. She’s getting older and won’t want to be cuddled much longer, but for now she’s still my baby.

While we were sleeping Ronnie crept into the room and took this photo. I found it on my camera later. I’m going to keep this photo forever too.

Because I Said SO!

I remember being really frustrated as a child when my Mom would say “Because I said so!”. The unfairness and abruptness of it all left me feeling irritated. I can remember thinking to myself that I would never ever say that to my children when I grew up. I planned to answer my future children fairly by explaining my reasoning to them.

Twenty years later, I’ve realized that one should never say never because I’ve found myself saying “Because I said so!” multiple times. In fact, I just may be turning into my mother.

A thirty one year old mother of three is driving a beautifully clean red minivan down the highway. She’s engaging in a discussion with her three agreeable, adorable children. The Mom is impeccably dressed and ready for anything. (Okay, I made that part up. The Mom is really dressed in yoga pants and her hair is a mess because she spent so much time making her kids adorable.) They are on their way to yet another doctor’s appointment.

Alexis: “Mom, Are we going to the park?”

Mom: “No honey.” “Jordan has a doctor’s appointment and we are running late as usual.”

Brandon: “Mommy, can we go to the park AFTER the appointment?”

Mom: “No, because Jordan is sick and I don’t want her to get overheated.”

Jordan: “But Moooooooooooooooooom, I want to go to the park! I’m not that sick!” (Insert croupy cough here.)

Mom: “It’s not fair to go to the park because your sister wouldn’t be able to play.”

Alexis: “Please, please, pleeeeease with a cherry on top?!”

Mom: “I said NO guys now that’s enough!”

All Three Lovely Children: “But WHY?!” (Imagine this in a whiny tone of voice that dogs can hear miles away.)

Mom: “Because I SAID so!” (She sighs and rolls her eyes.)

Jordan: “You know Mom… If you roll your eyes, they’ll get stuck like that.”

Mom: (Thinks to herself.) Awesome. Now SHE’S turning into my Mom too! At lease I’ll have some company. Right?

Now that I’m older it’s a lot easier to see that we drove my Mom absolutely insane because we were only slightly more civilized than marauding pirates on our best days. She was probably totally fed up with us. Hindsight really is 20/20. I know now that there IS a reason to say “Because I said so”! Three reasons in my house to be exact.

How about you? Do you find yourself repeating things you swore you would never say? I can’t be the only one! (Please tell me I’m not the only one. LOL)

P.S. Before I go I just have to say… Don’t forget to wash behind your ears and look both ways before you cross the street!

April 2011 Free Template Two

Hi everyone! I’ve decided to start posting my posts here that I put on the Ideas For Scrapbookers blog with the digital freebies I offer from time to time. The reason is because I know that not everyone follows the other blog.

Basically it goes like this, I create a sketch and some example layouts. Then I offer the sketch and layered digital template for download so paper and digital scrapers can BOTH use it.

Here's the sketch and template preview! Feel free to right click on the image and then click "Save As" to save it to your computer for inspiration.

This is the first example layout I came up with. It's a digital page and I used the layered digital template that's available for download at the end of this post. I did a lot of distressing using watercolor brushes and some extraction. All of the supplies I used came from

I used Echo Park's Little Boy paper pack to create the paper layout that I made with the sketch. It's a relatively simple layout because I wanted to keep the focus on the photo that I love so much.

Here's the link to download the free layered digital template that I created in Photoshop Elements if you're a digital scrapper...

Wacky Wednesday

This morning Alexis had an appointment for her initial evaluation for testing through her psychiatrist’s office. They will be evaluating her IQ, her personality, and her mental status. The actual appointment was a nightmare. While I was trying to have a discussion with the therapist about what was going on Brandon had an accident and I had to leave the room to change him. Jordan fell twice and skinned her knee bad enough to bleed. Have I mentioned how very much I am LOVING Easter break? If I don’t get some peace and quiet soon my ears may very well be permanently damaged!

Alexis’ actual testing isn’t scheduled until June because their testing schedule is so full. It’s okay with me though because the testing takes a total of six hours so she would be missing a ton of school. I’m planning on doing a lot of tutoring with her over the Summer to keep her up to speed and maybe even get her ahead a bit. I hate that she struggles so much with her school work.

She will have a lot of time to practice over the Summer because she quit gymnastics. After six years of year ‘round gymnastics Alexis decided she doesn’t want to do it anymore because she has a slight physical deformity that prevents her arms and knees from going straight. It’s nothing serious, but in gymnastics where form is so important, she’ll always be criticized. She kept telling me that the teachers are picking on her telling her to “get those arms straight” when she can’t. So we let her quit after making her participate in the last session that we paid for. We’re looking into getting her to play softball.

I’m still working on getting Brandon set up for speech therapy. They keep giving me the run around on what paperwork I need. Then insurance needs a referral… it never ends. At least we are on the way to getting him some help. He would be going to the same therapy office that Jordan goes to on Thursdays. The office coordinator took pity on me and said that she would try to set him up at the same time that Jordan goes so I only have to make one trip a week. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it actually happens that way.

Jordan was in such a bad mood today! She picked fights with Brandon and Alexis all day long. Before she went to bed she even tried picking a fight with me. I think she’s so cranky and tired because her leg muscles still haven’t caught up with the growth spurt she had. I got a phone call from the orthopedic place today saying that her new leg braces are in. Getting her back into wearing them is going to be an adventure to say the very least. Wish me luck on that. Not that I blame her, I’m sure they are uncomfortable. I don’t even like wearing shoes on my feet if I don’t have to.

After we got home from the doctor’s office I puttered around and cleaned house. It seems like there’s always something to do! I finished cleaning the carpet in my bedroom. It was the last room I had to do so I am officially finished with that project! Next, I need to work on more Spring cleaning. Does anyone want to come help me wash woodwork and walls? I’m super glad that my Mom loaned me her carpet cleaner because the floors look a lot cleaner now. It makes my little OCD heart happy!

I also finished a scrapbook page but you won’t get to see that until tomorrow! It’s scheduled to post automatically first thing in the morning.

***Since it’s Wednesday it’s time for a journaling/blogging question. You can post your reply on your blog and link back or just answer the question in my comments. Whatever makes you happy!

What are your favorite TV shows right now?

The first one is Glee of course! No self respecting Gleek could ever say otherwise. Plus, as a former actual choir geek… I’m in love with this show! I think we had slightly less drama in our high school though.

True Blood. Sigh. I have read every single one of the Sookie Stackhouse books and the series almost lives up to the books. That’s saying something since I never think that! I can’t wait until the new season comes on this Summer. Waiting sucks!

Last but not least there’s Bones. I just can’t help it. Even though the romantic story line between Booth and Bones drives me insane, I’m still drawn to it. Plus, I’ve been a David Boreanaz fan since Buffy! (I totally shouldn’t be admitting that!)

A Quick Peek!

I found out this morning that the Scraptastic Club kits are nearly sold out. There are only two left of the “Classic Girl” kit and Jessica just put up the previews! If you want it… hurry!

Classic Girl Scraptastic

This is the add on! When I saw the beautiful trims I had to have it. You’ll be seeing layouts on my blog soon from both kits!

I have been busy today. I vacuumed the house again! I have one more room to clean with Mom’s carpet cleaner. I’ll be glad when I’m finished. The carpets look much better!

The kids are driving me crazy! I still can’t believe that they are out of school all week long. I’m coming up with tons of activities and busy stuff for them to do to stay out of my hair. It’s only halfway working.

I stayed up late last night and created a scrapbook page for next month’s guest design team spot at Flamingo Scraps. I can’t share it yet, but I used the gorgeous Salt Air collection from Cosmo Cricket.

I also have been working on my Project 365 layout off and on as well. Today is a puttering day… a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I’m having a hard time paying attention to any one task. I’m also distracted by shiny objects. Oh look, bling! Hehe

The Easter Bunny Came!

We were late getting down to my grandparent’s house on Saturday and it was all my fault. I set the alarm on my Blackberry to 6:00 in the morning but I forgot to change the setting from “weekdays only”. Ooops! Ronnie woke me up at seven and we were out the door in record time.

It was a beautiful day for a drive. Lots of sunshine and only a few clouds in the sky! I took this photo on the Lake Ponchartrain Causeway bridge.

We had our Easter egg hunt as soon as we got to my grandparents  just in case the few clouds did end up giving us a few showers. (Not that we would’ve complained much because it’s been so dry here lately.)

Brandon got some help hunting for eggs because the egg hiders overestimated the kiddos’ finding ability. In fact, we never did find three of the eggs. I’m sure my grandpa will be finding them soon with the lawn mower. I don’t think he’ll be too happy about it either. LOL

Jordan found an Easter egg balanced on the side of the trailer. We also had eggs on car bumpers and tractor tires. The egg hiders were tricky!

After the hunt most of the kids sat down to check out the loot inside their Easter eggs. My niece took off with my Uncle on the golf cart so she wasn’t in the photo. (More about that later!) My Mom has three girl grandkids and three boys and they are ALL adorable. I can’t believe how quickly they are growing up!

Still checking out loot! There were rings, stickers, and jelly beans. My dedicated grandma stuffed 72 eggs for them! I think that she spoils the kiddos rotten but I can’t say much because she still spoils me rotten too. We are all very lucky to have her!

Alexis really liked that there were eggs shaped like chickens. There were also car shaped eggs and princess themed eggs. Everyone looked beautiful in their Easter dresses!

Want to know what else we did? My grandpa recently bought a golf cart. Right before Easter! I have a sneaking suspicion that someone spoke to him about how unsafe TRACTOR SURFING is and he came up with this alternative! LOL Ronnie loved driving the kids around next to the levee. He’s the biggest kid of all!

When we went inside it was almost lunch time so we asked the kids to play quietly while we got everything ready. They conned my cousin, sister in law, and Mom out of their iPhones. Why? They are all completely and utterly obsessed with the “Angry Birds” app. If you haven’t played it… don’t. It’s incredibly addictive! If you haven’t let your children play it… don’t! Otherwise they’ll beg you all day long to play “Angry Birds”. Brandon has mastered this pitiful doe eyed look that makes me feel horrible when I tell him no. He’s so mistreated!

We stopped by Ronnie’s parent’s house on the way home and they gave the kids another Easter basket with more candy and goodies. I left my camera in the car so I don’t have any photos of that. We also stopped at his best friend’s house on the way home for a few minutes. The kids tried to jump in his pool and we had to pull them out. They were just supposed to put their feet in but it wasn’t long before they were inching in further. We had to promise to go back soon to take them swimming before we could get them out. I didn’t want them swimming in their Easter clothes!

We got home late and had to dye Easter eggs before the bunny could come. My camera was acting up under the dining room light. I ended up with fuzzy photos with a funky color cast so I gave up and converted them to black and white. I am pretending that it’s an artsy edit and that I meant to do it. Ha!

The kit I bought to dye eggs this year was a little different. All of our eggs were monsters. Some had hair… all had really weird eyes and mouths. I like being different sometimes. I think doing the same thing year after year is boring! The kids were tickled pink by the whole experience of creating monster eggs.

We had a small Easter egg hunt here on Sunday morning. I usually try to take my kids’ Spring photos on Easter morning while they are all dressed up but they were less than cooperative. This is the only decent photo I got, but it’s a good one. I love how smushed up Brandon’s cheeks are and how Jordan’s nose is upturned. You can tell a lot about their relationship in this photo.

Today was rough. The girls are out of school for a week for Easter break and everyone got up on the wrong side of the bed! It didn’t help that I woke up this morning to a to do list a mile long. I’ve been cleaning my carpet a room or two at a time since my Mom loaned me her carpet cleaner on Saturday. I am almost finished! Tomorrow I’ll do our bedroom and then I’m done. Today I did the little kids’ room and they were highly annoyed with me because they couldn’t go in there.

I made them all play in Alexis’ room most of the day while we waited on the carpet to dry. I also moved furniture, rearranged my scrap room, and edited an absolute pile of Easter photos. It took forever! I know you think this post is photo heavy but trust me it’s no where near the amount of photos I had to edit. I always say that I take too many pictures and I mean it!

Before I end this post I wanted to link to the latest Project 365 layouts I finished…

A Hoppy Day!

I’m so excited that we’ll be dying Easter eggs tonight and heading down to my grandparent’s house tomorrow morning for the big Easter egg hunt! I am bringing strawberry shortcake for the dessert and I still have to go to the store to pick up all of the supplies. I’m embarrassed to admit that I have done no shopping for my kids for Easter either. I am sure that I’m going to pay for it when I go later and the aisles are packed with cranky people buying chocolate bunnies!

The girls and Ronnie are off today so we were looking forward to sleeping in. Until I realized that the girls were supposed to have vision therapy today! Ugh. So we got up early and I fed them and dressed them. We were running late so I rushed over there only to find the door locked. Really?! Like they couldn’t have called me and told me they were closing on Good Friday? I could’ve slept in! I think I’m going to complain next week.

Sleeping in would’ve been especially nice given that I was up until 1AM last night scrapbooking. I kept puttering around with this page because I couldn’t get it to look the way I wanted. I ended up calling it done because I was super sleepy. I think it turned out okay!

Journaling: I was eighteen in this photo. Ready to go to college and take on the world! I graduated from Belle Chasse High in 1998.

I based this page on a Creative Scrappers sketch and I'm entering it into the ScrapFit Back In The Day challenge as well. I used my Scraptastic Club kit called "Old School". It's no longer available. I added a few things from my stash including the small brown alpha, a button, and a few bits of bling.

It’s been a long time since I’ve scrapped a page about me. I’m going to have to remember to tell my story more often!

I hope everyone has a Happy Easter.

Some Good News (finally!)

Brandon had his speech and developmental evaluation today. They said his speech is borderline bad enough to get services through the public schools. His physical development is fine. He's a little behind other kids but not as bad as his pediatrician made it seem. He's great in fine motor. He stacked 15 tiny blocks. I don't think I could've done that. LOL They want to reevaluate him in 6 months for speech and they recommended that I put him in preschool next year. (We were already planning to.) She said the behavioral issues he's exhibiting are not autistic and that she's treated a lot of kids with autism so she's sure. She called his behavior "quirky" but normal. When I told Ronnie, he said "Well that just means he's weird like his Momma." Yep. I'll own that. I'm weird in a good way and so is Bubba! Ronnie and I are looking in to getting him speech services on an outpatient basis for now. What's one more appointment right?

After his evaluation we went to the park across the street to play! He wouldn’t go down this slide because there was a bug on one side. When I pointed out that there were two sides to the slide he didn’t care. He went back down the steps and said “I don’t think so!”

They also had a large concrete tube in the park for kids to crawl through. Brandon LOVED it! I had to pull him out of it when it was time to leave. I think he was pretending to be a train going through a tunnel.

After we ran all of our errands we came home. I managed to get a few blissfully peaceful minutes of scrappy time to create two layouts.

1: 31st Layout One

2: 31st Layout Two

If these two pages look similar… there’s a reason why!

My grandmother and I exchange 8x8 layouts kinda like a never ending circle journal. I make two layouts now because when I only made one I always ended up wanting to keep it! This way she can choose which one she wants and I can keep the other. Everybody wins!

I'm not sure why the stamped spider web in the upper corner is showing up as blue. It's white Staz On IRL.

Before I go I wanted to show you a peek of the May Scraptastic Kit called “In The Hood”. It’s available for pre-order now. You can also pre-order the “Classic Girl” kit and add ons as well but she doesn’t have the full image up on that one yet. I’ll come back and link when Jessica puts it up!

I can’t wait to play with this kit! I have Easter photos that match the colors perfectly and I’ve been looking for cute Easter paper.

Today I Don’t Feel Like Doing Anything

I have spent the entire day being a bum. I cleaned up a little bit just to keep from tripping over things that the kids have taken out. I am going to have to get to Spring cleaning next week, but for now the status quo is laziness and I’m okay with that.

I am blaming a big part of my slovenly ways on the game I purchased yesterday.

I’ll admit it. I didn’t get all of the hype that surrounds throwing birds at pigs. Until I played it. My Mom showed me on her iPhone the other night. I found out I could purchase it to play on my PC and I spent most of yesterday playing. My kids are also addicted. To the point that I had to put it on Ronnie’s computer too so they would let me play on mine. Apparently I don’t share well. Who knew?

It’s a good thing that I had all of my design team blog posts prescheduled because I was that obsessed! LOL Speaking of blog posts… I had another one go live today on the Ideas For Scrapbookers blog. This time it is a collaborative post between a bunch of the contributing artists. They all based their layouts on this sketch I created.

Click HERE to head over to the blog to see everyone’s take on the sketch and to download the free layered digital template that I created for digital scrapbookers.

*Since it’s Wednesday it’s time for a journaling/blogging question. Please feel free to answer the questions in my comment field or post the answer on your own blog and link me to it so I can leave you a comment!

Tell me about a little thing that drives you crazy. What small things in life totally irks your nerves?

I hate when I rent a movie from Netflix and it’s so scratched up that it doesn’t work. I don’t like the fact that my kids leave their dirty laundry around the house. I’m not the maid! There’s no laundry fairy! Pick it up. I hate when people assume things based on appearance. Just because my child is throwing a tantrum does not mean I’m a terrible mother.

Those are just a few! I could keep you here all day long but then the blog police (Nancy!) would fine me for my post being too long. LOL

Alexis Wants to Go Fast

It’s late at my house. I’m winding down and listening to an Elton John CD that my Mom gave me this past Saturday. Today was definitely blogging day because this is the third post I’ve written. The other two will go live on the Ideas For Scrapbookers blog in the next few days. I’ve got lots to share so let’s get right to it shall we?

Last Thursday I brought Jordan to her therapy appointment. While she was there, Brandon and I ran to get my medical records from the cardiologist’s office down the street. I found several things in the records that he didn’t tell me including the fact that I actually did rather well on my stress test. (I was sure I flunked!) I also found out that I have a tiny bit of regurgitation in my mitral valve. It wasn’t anything major but it was stuff that I should’ve been told in my opinion!

When I went back to pick Miss Jordan up both of her therapists informed me that she had a really hard time paying attention and being patient during her session. I’m attributing this to the increased pain she’s been in since her growth spurt. I’m really hoping that when she gets her new braces in things will get better.

I brought her to school and Brandon and I did the usual Thursday errands including running to the drug store, the post office, and the library. We also went to Kohl’s because I had a $10.00 discount card they sent in the mail. I picked out an Easter dress for me to wear down to my grandma’s house. I only paid $19.00 for a dress that was priced at over $50.00. You just can’t beat that! Actually, you can. Brandon told me that I “wooked wike a pwincess” in the dress. That was priceless!

Alexis and Jordan didn’t have vision therapy on Friday due to standardized testing in our schools this past week. They didn’t want anyone to come in late so I cancelled the appointment. Ronnie was off of work because he had to pack for his Talladega trip. He took a break from packing to take Brandon and I out to breakfast at I-Hop and he helped me do some grocery shopping as well. When we got home I cleaned house and puttered around until the girls got home and then it was homework time.

Ronnie and Alexis left early Saturday morning because they had a looooong drive ahead of them. Mom got here just before they left so Ronnie got to see Christian open his birthday present. She and I drank coffee while the kids played. After a while, I cooked lunch and fed the kiddos. We ate early because we had to head out to Folsom for Jordan’s hippotherapy horse show.

We got to the horse show on time only to find out that they were running REALLY far behind. At first, the kids did a really good job of waiting and playing quietly.

It wasn’t long before that was out the window. Brandon saw another little boy climbing on things and running around and decided that he wanted to do that too. The open backed bleachers made me really nervous so I tried to get him to stay near us. He was NOT happy about that at all.

Jordan did an amazing job riding her horse. I got a couple of cute photos of her in action.

Here she is accepting one of the two ribbons she won!

I also managed to get video of her actual ride when it was time to compete. Please ignore the frantic Southern lady begging her four year old to keep still and behave. I have NO idea who that is?! (Okay, so it’s me. Fine! I admit it.)

Jordan riding in the horse show for hippotherapy.

After this video was shot Brandon had a complete meltdown during the awards show. I actually had to pick him up and carry him back to the van. I was mortified!

I ended up taking Mom to the consignment store I keep raving about so she could check it out. She ended up buying a beautiful Easter dress for my niece. I bought my kiddos a few swim suits because Summer is pretty much here. I spent $22.00 and when I went online and checked prices my haul was worth over $90.00. Most of the stuff still had tags on it. I wanted to look around a little more but Brandon had another tantrum and we had to go. I honestly don’t know if he was tired or just missing his Daddy but he was super cranky.

We came home and let the kids swim in the new kiddie pool. I’m pleased as punch to admit that I was able to stop the leaking.

They all had a wonderful time and they definitely didn’t want to come inside. As evidenced by yet another tantrum from Brandon.

We got them all in and dried off and chatted while I cooked dinner. The kiddos ate and I noticed that Jordan didn’t eat much. She got really tired and I thought it was because of her riding, but I felt her head and she had fever. I gave her some Motrin and then the kids watched TV and played until it was time for bed.

Mom and Christian went to sleep first. I stayed up with Alexis Mikayla and Jordan until 10:30 watching Yo Gabba Gabba. We all went to sleep for a while until Christian woke up coughing and crying. Uh oh! He definitely wanted his Mommy. After a while, Mom managed to get him back to sleep. I decided to check on Jordan before heading back to bed and discovered she had a temperature of 101 and was burning up. I pulled her out of bed and tossed her into the tub to cool her off and gave her Tylenol to help the fever come down.

We eventually got everyone back to sleep around 2:30 AM. You would think that they would all be exhausted and sleep in…  Nope! They were up at the crack of dawn. I stumbled around the kitchen and made coffee and breakfast. Mom left after that because she had to bring the kids home.

Sunday was a blur of alternating baths and fever reducing medications for Jordan. We didn’t have much fun at all but Ronnie and Alexis did.

He took some really good photos of Alexis and the track. They have the same seats every year so this shot pretty much looks the same as last year’s. I do know that he was really grateful to see all of that blue sky! I’ll never forget how upset he was the year he missed the race because it got rained out.

By the time Ronnie got home late Sunday night Jordan’s temperature was up to 103.7. I called the emergency nurse line and they told me that she didn’t think Jordan needed to go to the ER. She said to just keep doing what I was doing. Thankfully, around midnight her temperature dropped a bit and she was able to sleep most of the night.

Today (18th) was Jordan’s 7th birthday. She had to miss school because I couldn’t keep her temperature down. Ronnie was off of work too. He needed a day to rest and unpack before heading back. He agreed to bring Jordan to the pediatrician so Brandon and I could go to my follow up appointment with my primary care doctor that I’ve had scheduled for months now. It took forever to get there because of a really bad wreck on the main road. I walked in a few minutes late but they took me right away. Everything checked out fine. All of my test results were good.

I got back home in time to drop Brandon off. I picked Jordan up and we headed to the pediatrician. I was really upset when the pediatrician couldn’t figure out what was going on with her. They tested her urine for a urinary tract infection and it was fine. She also tested her for strep and that came out negative as well. The only thing that showed up was a bacterial infection of some sort on her blood tests so the doctor wrote her a script for ten days worth of antibiotics. Jordan was a trouper through the entire thing. She’s such an amazing girl!

When we got home I made dinner and cupcakes. That made her feel a little bit better. She got one small birthday present from us and one from her bus driver as well. (Lexie brought it home for her.) Her party is in a few weeks. With Easter, Talladega, Spring break, and the horse show it’s a miracle we could schedule it in April at all!

You can totally tell that she’s not feeling well in the photo but she tried to smile. I think she was laughing at the fact that I nearly set the cupcake on fire with seven candles shoved in it!

I ended up getting a birthday present in the mail today! Nancy sent me this HUGE package of goodies including the twine I've been drooling over and a lovely card. She also sent alpha stickers and piles and piles of paper including my favorite Prima paper ever! (Rebellious) Nancy is totally amazing and I tell her that all the time. She completely made my day when I opened this box!

Having all of those new goodies is going to MAKE me have to scrapbook! I haven’t had much time lately and I only have one page to share this week.

I fell really far behind on my Digi In Deeper class when I got sick. I'm finally catching up when I have the time to spare. I did Lesson 10 yesterday. So much good info including working with acrylic brushes and making chipboard accents. Oh and the scribble letters = total awesomeness.

That’s all for now! I know this is the longest blog post ever. I’ll be back on Wednesday with a blogging/journaling question!

Plentiful Thank You
