Sweet Summertime Sketch/Template

Hi everyone! I'm back again to share another sketch/template. I have a lot of example layouts to post as well. I always love it when that happens! This is what the sketch looks like.

The next three example layouts feature the "Sweet Summertime" kit fromScraptastic Club. I created this page about my three bugs (kids) slip 'n sliding at my grandma's house. I even borrowed the title of the kit for my page!

Jessica made this page with photos from her niece's birthday party. I love how she eliminated one row of photos to make the sketch work for her. The way she matted the letters of the title totally rocks!

Juliann also changed the sketch so she could create an 8.5x11 page. Instead of cutting off the top photos like Jessica did, she cut the two on the side. I love the sweet photos and her stitching!

I ended up liking the way the template turned out so much that I used it for a design team assignment I did at I used Cosmo Cricket'sSalt Air digital collection to create this page about my silly children.

Nancy made this page of her sassy & super sweet daughter posing for photos. She followed my basic design but added some really pretty embellishments.

Thanks for all of your help ladies! I appreciate it. If you are a digital scrapbooker and would like the layered template that I created in Photoshop Elements please click on the link below to download it.

Drive By Freebie

It’s been a while since I posted a free digital download! Today my friend Jessica asked me to convert her gorgeous layout into a sketch. When I was done, I asked her if she would mind me sharing it as a free sketch and digital template for everyone to download. She totally didn’t mind!

This is the layout that she made. Her son is just too cute and I love the way she scattered stars all over the page.

This is the sketch/template I created with her page as inspiration.

If you want to save the sketch please right click on the image and then click “Save As”. I also saved it as a layered template for digital scrapbookers. If you would like to download that file please click on the link below.

You can check out Jessica’s other pages on her blog here. She’s also the owner of Scraptastic Club!

I’m dropping by with a super quick post! I can’t be on long because my girls have  friend over. They are watching The Little Mermaid 2 again. It’s a wonder my brain cells haven’t all committed suicide! Jeez.

Maybe they haven’t died because I’ve been exercising them with my mad math skills? I’ve been couponing at CVS lately. I’m no where near as good as some people but last Sunday I got my biggest haul yet. I got all of this stuff for $3.84 out of pocket! The value of everything is over $50.00. The gum and sunflower seeds were fillers so I could use my Extra Care Bucks. I won’t need to buy shaving cream for months!

You totally can’t beat that right? I’m not like the extreme couponers. I only buy and take home what my family actually uses. We have a small house and don’t have enough room to have a “toothpaste room” like the crazy people on that Extreme Couponing show!

Speaking of goodies, I got my new Scraptastic Club kits in today and they are both just beautiful. I especially love the yellow letters in the Out of Print kit. The text on the papers is such a neat design feature too.

The coordinating add on is wonderful too! Those blue chipboard letters are so cool. I love how the centers aren’t cut out. Pretty neat right? The colors are so girlie and pretty.

I’m going to admit here that I bought the second kit this month and I am SO very glad that I did! This one is called Summer Star and it’s a perfectly playful kit. I am looking forward to digging in and creating with it. I’m having a hard time choosing which one to use first!

The space themed add on to this kit makes it PERFECT for scrapping Alexis’ Stennis Space Center field trip from last year.

If you don’t hear from me for a while you’ll know where I am!(Buried up to my elbows in paper and happily crafting!) I’ll also be getting the kids’ stuff ready for school. I’m happy/sad to say that Brandon was accepted for pre-school this morning and he will be going in three weeks. It’s a blessing that he can go. I’m just bummed because he’s the last baby. Everyone is growing up entirely too quickly!

It’s Raining, It’s Pouring!

For the past week we’ve been trying to cram as much fun as possible into what’s left of our Summer vacation. It hasn’t been as easy as you would think because we’ve been slammed with thunderstorms at least once a day.

On Saturday, Alexis and Jordan were supposed to ride their horses in the morning but they got rained out. The weather cleared up for a few hours in the afternoon. Ronnie and I jumped at the chance to take the kids outside for a ride on their bikes. I think he and I had cabin fever as much as the kids did. You don’t realize how much you love the sun until it disappears behind ominous clouds for a few days!

I made them all pose for a photo. They look so very thrilled to be sitting still. Not!

Alexis really should be off of her training wheels at 9 years old, but she’s such an anxious girl that we haven’t even tried it. She’s nervous WITH the training wheels and rides around and turns very slowly.

Jordan is also really nervous when she rides. Her balance issues make her feel like she’s falling. Recently I’ve started running next to her to get her to go a bit quicker. She actually likes it more when she goes faster. She forgets to worry!

Brandon is the opposite. He rides so fast it’s hard to get a clear photo of him. He turns on a dime, and he never wants to stop riding when it’s time to come in. He’s a little speed demon!

Remember me saying the rain has been unbelievable? This was our backyard early on Sunday morning. We had five inches of water along our back fence. Since the water was over the grass and there was no mud guess what I let the kids do?

I can remember the sheer joy of jumping in puddles as a child. Now, I know the joy of jumping through them with my kids as well. I find that much more amazing and fulfilling. Don’t worry. There are no photos of me jumping! Another reason it’s good to be the one BEHIND the camera.

Miss Lexie took a break from jumping to post for a photo. She had two good days this weekend. When she’s happy, it makes everything so much easier in our lives.

After a while, Brandon starting running back and forth along the back fence. He would make huge splashes. My favorite part was that he giggled the entire time.

I brought them all inside and gave them a bath before we headed out to visit my husband’s cousin for the first time in a few months.

The kids got to ride his horse in a drizzling rain. Thankfully, he understands that my girls are incredibly horse obsessed and he was willing to oblige.

The town that they live in is gorgeous and very rural. There are miles of open pastures and fenced ones. It’s lovely! Here’s Miss Jordan riding in her dress.

Brandon was interested in riding something different, but by that time it was raining too hard and he didn’t actually get to. He had fun pretending though.

After a while, the rain let up a bit so we let the kids swim in the pool. I don’t have permission to post photos of the kids’ cousins so I’ll only post the ones without them.

Alexis practiced swimming underwater after she borrowed a pair of goggles from the boys. She also spent half of the afternoon chasing Justin with a Nerf gun. There were Nerf bullets EVERYWHERE!

When Brandon saw the older cousins jumping off of the ladder, he decided he could do it too. Here he is shouting at everyone to “move out of his way”. Rotten child!

Even though it rained most of the weekend, we still managed to have a really good time. The kids spent Monday catching up on their Summer reading minutes so they can get their prizes this Thursday. We are trying to wrap everything up so we can focus on getting ready for school. Tomorrow I have to go register Brandon for pre-k. I am so not ready for him to go but the speech therapist thinks it will help. I’m secretly hoping that he won’t get in. I’m not ready for my last baby to go to school yet!

Sharing Pages

I finally got to scrapbook! I was having a really hard time due to the fact that I cut my right pointer finger on a can while cooking a week ago. I’ve since decided that it’s much too dangerous for me to cook, so I should stop that and scrapbook instead. It’s getting better slowly. I’ve finally been able to play with paper and click my mouse to scrap digitally. Yay!

1: I’d Pick You

I tried something a little bit different this time around with matting the background of the layout off kilter. I'm not sure if I love it because you all know me and my straight lines, but I'm calling it done.

I was inspired by Sketch #53 from the Sketch Savvy blog. I used my Scraptastic Club Pyrus kit to create this page. I only added a couple of things from my stash. The banner is dimensional and the top photo is also popped high up off of the page to accommodate the texture of the torn burlap. This page was lots of fun to make. I miss Brandon being so little!

2: Just Horsing Around

Ever since Jessica started offering add ons for sale at Scraptastic Club I've been working on fussying my layouts up a bit so I can use up all of the goodies. I made the pink and red flower out of ribbon included with the kit. The only thing I added to my Scraptastic Club July "Sweet Summertime" kit to create this page was a few blingy pearls and two buttons.

This page is about Jordan being invited for a private one on one tour of "Clyde The Clydesdale's" barn. His owner spent hours with her letting her feed him and showing her all of his tricks. Jordan met Bonnie & Clyde through her horse therapy program where she rides to help her with the muscle tightness she experiences due to her cerebral palsy.

I almost forgot! Scraptastic Club is sponsoring this week at Sketch Inspiration and I did this page using one of their sketches. It'll be featured there as an example page this week.

3: Making Friends

I totally fell in love with last week's Template Tuesday by Sheri Horton. This is what I ended up with! I love these photos of Alexis meeting her horse for the first time. She’s now riding for therapy.

One Of Those Months?

If I said that today has been one of those days it would be an understatement. In fact, this entire month has been a mild to moderate disaster. I am trying really hard to focus on the positive here lately but it has been hard. I haven’t felt much like scrapbooking or chatting with friends. It’s really tough when people that you trusted show you a whole different side of themselves to you. I’m just stunned and scrambling to fix relationships when I don’t even know if they will ever be repairable. In fact, I’m not totally sure that I want to put the effort into it.

Instead of letting all of this get me down, I’m going to list a few things that I’m grateful for to get me out of this funk.

1. I have the most supportive husband in the world. He has always stood by my side and I am so thankful that he believes and trusts in me.

2. I am lucky to have amazing friends who listen to me whine and offer awesome advice. You know who you are ladies. Thank you!

3. I already have all of my kids’ school supplies and uniforms purchased and ready to go! I can’t believe school starts on August 8th.

4. I have design team work to keep my mind busy and occupied! It keeps me inspired and gives me goals to meet and things to do.

5. CHA! I am really looking forward to the new goodies coming out from all of the scrapbook manufacturers. Let the drooling and spending money begin!

6. The kids have been doing well lately. Alexis had an amazing day two days in a row! We made sure to make a really big deal about her making good choices.

I have a few scrapbook pages that I made last week to share. So far there’s been nothing this week but I’m hoping to change that tomorrow. Come on mojo!

I tried to do my own thing with Jessica's extra "Graphic" kit from the Digi In Deeper class. I really loved the combination of the different colors. Of course, I added more stuff to shabby it up a bit. I just had to! I have scrappy style ADHD. I can't make up my mind! LOL

Journaling: Today I took you to your first "Build And Grow" clinic at Lowes. I'm pretty sure you liked it. In fact, you asked if we could do it again before we even made it out to the parking lot. I took this photo of you in front of the store. You were so very proud of the tow truck you built and I was proud of you! July 9, 2011

New Blog Design!

Hi everyone! I just spent the past few hours changing my blog. I got tired of the darker color scheme and wanted to go with something a little fresher. Plus, clean lines are always better. Let me know what you think?

Scraptastic Club Projects

I dropped by to post about what I’ve been up to lately with one of my design teams. I am hosting the 2nd July challenge at the Scraptastic Club blog! There is an amazing prize and all you have to do is use one of my sketches. Easy peasy right? Click here to see the sketch and participate!

I also have two Scraptastic Club projects to share. I made a card with the super cute July kit called “Sweet Summertime”. I also used the add on that you can purchase separately.

This layout is based on a sketch that will be up on the Ideas For Scrapbooker’s blog this month! I loved the ladybugs in this month’s Scraptastic Club kit, so I just had to work them in on a page.

Plentiful Thank You

Hello Sunshine Sketch/Template

Hi everyone! I'm back to share another digital template and sketch that I created. Here is the preview of the sketch! Feel free to right click and then click on "Save As" if you would like to download the sketch to your computer.

I created a paper page that uses this sketch as inspiration. It's called "Hello Sunshine". I used my July Scraptastic Club kit called "Sweet Summertime" to put it all together.

I ended up finding a photo that would work on a digital page as well, so I used some supplies from Jessica Sprague's website to scrap about how sweet my kids are to each other.

I also had some help from my fellow design team members at Scraptastic Club! Juliann converted my sketch to an 8.5 x 11 size because that's the size she scraps. I really love the stitching and distressing she did!

Jessica also sent me a layout based on my sketch! I really love the sweet photo and the way she curved her title. I'm also in love with the stitched butterfly trails. So pretty!

Thanks again Jessica and Juliann! If you would like the layered digital template that I created in Photoshop Elements please click on the link below to download.

Does Anyone Need A Taxi?

I spent today driving in circles. I drove for forty-five minutes to Hammond, Louisiana and forty-five minutes back for Alexis’ therapy appointment. We grabbed a quick lunch at home and then we had to run out again to the pediatrician’s office. Jordan had some follow up testing to do so we could be sure that her kidney infection had resolved. (It has!) The kids have so many therapy appointments lately that I keep threatening to buy a taxi sign to stick to the top of my van. We have SIX standing appointments per week. That’s not adding in any additional doctor’s appointments, school functions, or extracurricular activities. I keep saying if I could only clone myself… things would be a lot easier!

Did I mention I didn’t have any coffee this morning? I forgot to buy some at the store and I almost cried when I opened the cabinet this morning. I managed to muddle through the day and Ronnie bought coffee on the way home. He knows the way to my heart is caffeine. Ha! Forget chocolate and roses… coffee is the way to go!

We stayed home this past weekend except for early Saturday morning when Ronnie brought Jordan to hippotherapy. He took Alexis with them so Brandon and I could go do the “Build And Grow” clinic at Lowes. I’m super excited that he’s finally big enough to go! We built a tow truck and he was so thrilled. It was really nice to be able to spend some one on one time with him. We will definitely be going again!

I caught up on my design team work on Sunday! I was totally inspired by the new goodies at Jessica Sprague’s site. I have a TON of layouts to share today.

I don’t know if you all have heard but I have some super exciting news from Jessica Sprague to share… She’s teaching a new class! It’s all about portrait editing. I’ve always been curious about how to edit those types of photos so I’ll be participating. I’d love to see you there as well. Here is the info…

“Take your portraits to the next level with advanced editing and retouching techniques. This two-week video-based online class will show you how! Registration is now open! Class size is unlimited. Class runs July 18-31!”

Click on the image below to go to Jessica’s site for more information and pricing.

Before I go tonight, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who stopped by and left encouraging comments about Alexis. We are still taking it a day at a time. Her therapist and psychiatrist are very concerned and so are we. The psychiatrist increased some of her medicines but we are not seeing a positive effect. If anything her behavior has become more erratic. Thank you all again for all of the prayers and the kind thoughts. They mean the world to our family!

Plentiful Thank You
