We took the kids to their first Mardi Gras parade yesterday. I know, you all probably can’t believe that. People are usually shocked that we live in Louisiana without going to local parades. It’s because I had some really interesting experiences (Read: NOT GOOD) at parades and I haven’t gone to one in over ten years.
Last year, I heard that there was a small local parade that was really kid friendly. We didn’t hear about it until after it passed, so we waited until this year to go. I’m really happy to say that we had a fantastic time at the Abita Push Mow parade.
It was funny when were waiting for the parade because the kids didn’t understand why we had to get there so early. They kept asking us if the parade was here yet. They didn’t understand that waiting is a huge part of the parade experience. You just sit around and hang out. Visiting with the eclectic folks on the route is entertainment in itself.
Before I go, I’d like to share a digital layout that I made a while ago when I was taking Jessica Sprague’s Photoshop Friday class.
It doesn't take much to make us happy. We like to take mini road trips around our town to find new places to explore. On this day we took a nature walk in a local park. The photo ops made me happy, but my boy was just happy to dig in the dirt!
