Fun At MGM: Disney World Scrapbook Page

Memorial Day started off pretty well at our house. Ronnie had the day off, so we picked up around the house together.  Once our chores were done, we let the kids go outside to play in the pool. They splashed around for hours even though the wind was blowing and a storm was trying to build right over our backyard. I kept a wary eye on the clouds while listening to them wrestle, shriek, argue, and play.

Eventually they got hungry and cold, so we dried them off and brought them into the house. They each ate some animal crackers for a snack while they warmed up. We were surprised when Alexis yelled, "Ouch, my tooth!" I looked in her mouth to see blood pouring out. She cracked her tooth completely in half on an animal cracker! Since it is a baby tooth and our dentist's office was closed, they asked us to wait until today to see the dentist. She swore that it didn't hurt after the initial pain. It quit bleeding after a while, but we were all pretty freaked out.

I have a layout I'd like to share before I go. I used my My Creative Scrapbook May 2013 kit to make this page about our visit to Disney's Hollywood Studios (or MGM). I swear, they change the name of that place every single time we go. I used another one of those super cool Mickey bling heads from Hydrandgea Hippo as well.

I'm all out of scrapbook pages to share. I guess I'd better get to creating if I'm going to have any future blog content. Oh please, mojo come home!?

All Together Now: Magic Kingdom Group Layout

I hope everyone had a great Memorial Day! I am so thankful for all of our military men and women. I'd also like to thank their families who sacrifice time with their loved ones so we can be safe.

We didn't do too much over the weekend. Jordan went to hippotherapy so she could practice for her upcoming horse show. She has the course down already after two practice sessions. She loves "driving" her horse.

Hippotherapy_Instagram

Kit Kat is just so patient and sweet with her. Jordan asked and we found out that she's 25 years old. I told her that meant she was younger than I am. She said, "What were you born in 1950 or something?" What?! Okay kid! Sheesh.

Hippotherapy_Special Needs_Horse Therapy

I haven't finished any new scrapbook pages. I haven't done anything scrappy since Tuesday. I think my mojo has gone on vacation. It's okay though, I still have a few pages to post over the next couple of days. Here's another one that I made with my May 2013 My Creative Scrapbook Main kit. I really loved the feminine patterns and embellishments in this kit.

Magic Kingdom_Scrapbook Page_My Creative Scrapbook Main

As you can tell, it's another Disney page. Y'all will probably be seeing those for a while. I tend to focus on getting my trip photos scrapped as soon as I can before I forget the stories and lose interest.

Hollywood And Vine: Project Life Style

I made four pages while my friend Stephanie was over at our house this past Tuesday. It was the last day before the kids got out of school for Summer vacation, so I knew I needed to cram in some serious scrapping. I used my new My Creative Scrapbook May 2013 kit to create four different pages. I'd like to share two of them today.

I had one last page protector from my 2009 Project Life series and I decided to pair it with a PILE of photos that I took of our character breakfast at Hollywood And Vine in Hollywood Studios. We met Jake, Oso, Handy Manny, and one of the Little Einsteins. (I can't remember her name!)

This is what the back of the page looks like. Eventually I'll get around to writing on the journaling blocks. (Hopefully before I file the pages away in the HUGE Disney trip album.) The bling Mickey head came from the Hydrangea Hippo Etsy store. I love those things!

In other news, I was really surprised by Jordan's Math placement test results. She made straight A's in Math during third grade in public school, but she placed significantly below grade level in Singapore Math. I'd heard that it's normal for a child to test a year below grade level, but she tested a year and a half below her expected level. I decided to start her on a new Math curriculum over the Summer to try to help her catch up.

We are on day three and she's really enjoying the time that we're spending together. I'm watching her confidence build and even though she will probably never LOVE Math... I'm hoping that I'm able to make it a more positive experience than it has been for her.

Today Was A Fairytale: Disney World Carousel

I warned y'all yesterday that there would be another Disney layout on my blog today. I have a confession to make... I've been hoarding a pack of Basic Grey's Color Me Silly line! It's one of my favorite collections ever and I thought it would be perfect for this page. It matches the teal of my shirt, the purple of the girls', and the orange of my sister-in-law's. As always, you can click the image for a bigger view of the details!

I used two page sketch #12 from Sketch Saavy to inspire this page. I loved the way it had banners running down the right side. I thought I could imitate the look with some of the tags from the Color Me Silly tag die cut sheet. The carousel die cut file came from Miss Kate's Cuttables. I love her SVG files!

Jordan's Graduation and Other Stuff

Jordan's graduation last week didn't go as well as she hoped. My heart broke for her as she fought back tears during the ceremony. I only snapped one or two photos because she was so upset. I'm not going to talk about it here because I am trying to make things more peaceful in our lives. I am positive about one thing. I am super happy that Summer is here, and more than thrilled that we are going to be homeschooling her next year.

Ronnie and I checked her out and took her to lunch. She wanted Taco Bell and she ate four whole tacos. That's pretty much a record for her as she doesn't eat much at all. We took this picture while we were waiting for Ronnie to get her food. She's spoiled rotten!

Later that evening the kids went swimming. Brandon and Jordan are a bunch of camera hams. They saw me with the iPhone and said, "Do you want to take our picture?" Well... if you're going to twist my arm, sure!

I also snapped a photo of the nail polish that my personal stylist (Jordan) picked out for me. Seafoam polish topped with turquoise and green glitter. I was extra sparkly! These pictures were edited with my new app called A Beautiful Mess. I'm not sure if I love it or not. It may be too distracting!

I tried to take Miss Jordan to therapy this morning, but she got sick and we had to come home. She's on her second round of this stupid stomach virus. I feel so very bad for her. She came home and crashed, and if you know Jordan you know that never ever happens. If she's awake she's running around.

I'll be back tomorrow with a scrapbook page to share. I'm still working my way through the Disney photos I took. I'm not sure how much scrapbooking I'll get done this Summer! These kids are keeping me busy.

The Sampler May 2013 Card Challenge Sketch

It's that time again! The Sampler's May 2013 challenges are up. I provided the layout and card sketch. You should definitely go check out the challenges for a chance to win a super cool prize. I haven't shared the card sketch here on my blog yet. Please feel free to pin it or save it to your computer for later use! Keep scrolling down for a matching digital card front freebie.

The sketch inspired this card that I created with the May 2013 Thrift Shop kit from The Sampler. I used the softer patterns in the kit to create a pretty vintage card. The lace on the bottom is actually vintage lace that a friend gave me. It's beautiful and very delicate.

Sandi Pressley is one of my design team members and she made this gorgeous card based on the sketch. I love the colors that she used. Thank you so much for your help Sandi!

Mixed Media Art: Altered Embroidery Hoop

I'm sad to announce that this was my last project for the Hydrangea Hippo design team. I had to step down due to family and time constraints and I will definitely miss working for Jennifer. I still have leftover Hydrangea Hippo products and they'll pop up on the blog from time to time, but I'll no longer be an official DT member.

I used the April Mixed media kit called "Bee Amazing" to create this altered embroidery hoop. I used the striped ribbon as my background and I tied the royal blue ribbon around the top of the hoop. I cut the large gold doily down a bit so it would peek out when I adhered it to the back of the hoop.

I cut a butterfly from some of the book paper that was included in the kit. I added some blue Stickles to create some sparkle and add definition. If you look closely, you can see the corner of a doily stamp that I got during our hop a while back with 100 Proof Press.

Stop by the Hydrangea Hippo blog or Etsy store for more project examples and goodies.

I Love Horses: Digital Scrapbook Page

We're still celebrating two graduations here. As I'm sure you all remember, Brandon graduated kindergarten last Friday. Today was Jordan's big day! I'll be back with photos once I get them all edited. I did take a few on my iPhone of their graduation dinner and the cupcakes we made to celebrate.

I also have a digital layout to share. I'm so happy that I managed to sneak off to my computer for a few minutes! I really loved this photo of Jordan riding and I just HAD to make a layout with it as soon as I could.

Horse Scrapbook Page_Ideas

I used a template from Kimberly Lund to give the photo a lot of room to shine. I just couldn't resist using Bella Gypsy's colorful "Hold Your Horses" kit on this layout. The little horse embellishment just puts it over the top. I adore their kits because they're always packed with goodies.

Meeting Myself Coming And Going: End Of The Year Fun

We have been running like mad this week. Miss Jordan got sick Sunday night, so she missed three days of school. She technically didn't need to miss Wednesday but the doctor couldn't get her in earlier. She didn't get to go on a field trip to Liuzza Land due to the scheduling conflict, so I brought her with me to check out the Covington farmer's market. It was a beautifully sunny day!

She had just really started eating again the night before, so of course she was starving. She talked me into buying chicken tacos for her and they came with some very strange looking pickled vegetables. She ate it! I was shocked. She must've been really hungry because she said she liked it too.

We went to watch Alexis play the West African drums at Pineview on Wednesday night! Her school had some drums that were donated, and they've been playing them in music class. Alexis' class did the best job with them, so they were invited to play in a musical showcase. (She's the tiny one, third from the left.)

We were very proud of her and we went out to dinner afterward to celebrate! I definitely have some musical kids. Speaking of music, Jordan had a choir performance after her therapy appointment on Thursday. I got there very early so I could help the choir director dress all of the kids. Miss J had a duet with another girl and if the video is shaky, you'll have to forgive me. I was trying really hard not to cry!

Friday found me back at the school again for Brandon's kindergarten graduation. His class sang "My Mother Is A Baker" and he got to be the train conductor in the song. He was one happy dude. (Except for the part where he got tickled!)

My mother-in-law and Ronnie came with me to see him sing and I took a photo of them in the classroom after the performance. You can definitely see where Brandon gets his pretty brown eyes!

We couldn't resist Brandon when he asked us to check him out, so we did! Ronnie's Mom went back home, and we took Brandon to lunch. He just seems so grown up now. I don't know if it's that he's getting taller every second, or if it's just that he's gotten so mature over the last year. Either way, it's killing me. I'd desperately love a rewind button.

We made a quick stop at Kohl's for new tennis shoes for me. Mine were getting old and there's even a hole where my big toe rubs on each shoe. I hate shopping but it was time to go. Ronnie was holding Brandon's hand in the parking lot, but Brandon wanted a hug so he carried him the rest of the way into the store. Brandon might look like an 9-10 year old due to his height, but he's still only 6 years old and he'll always be my baby. (Hush it, Nancy!)

Saturday morning we all got up at the crack of dawn. Last week's tee ball game had been rescheduled because of really bad weather. They moved it to this weekend, but I'd scheduled Jordan's hippotherapy session because I thought tee ball would be over. We decided that therapy trumped tee ball, so we split up. I took Jordan and Alexis to New Heights with me, and Ronnie took Brandon to the tee ball game.

I was amazed at how well Jordan did because she hasn't been riding for over a year. It stunned me to see how poised she was and how grown up she looked. Her posture has improved so much and she didn't need the sidewalkers at all. She was so worried that she wouldn't get her favorite horse that she's ridden since she was two years old. Mrs. Catherine was nice enough to remember that Jordan is very attached to Kit Kat. Jordan was thrilled!

After she finished, we drove back to Covington. I hoped to get back in time for the trophy ceremony at the end of the tee ball game, but we missed it. Ronnie and his family met us at the gate. Brandon gave Jordan her trophy and she was thrilled with it! They both did an amazing job this season.

Brandon and Jordan got pizza from the CRD so we sat with them while they ate it. Alexis asked for a snowball and I snapped this picture of her eating it because her blue lips cracked me up. My in-laws ended up coming back to the house to give the kids their graduation presents. All in all, it was a nice but busy day.

Tomorrow I plan to do as little as possible. I am really tired and everything starts again on Monday. I need to fit a day of rest in there somewhere. I haven't scrapbooked in quite a while, and I'm beginning to feel cranky from a lack of creativity!

My Sassy Smile

Remember the photo I posted a while back of Miss J in her new glasses? I decided to scrapbook it! I haven't made a digital layout in forever, so I used my latest free digital template for inspiration. I created this page with a neat kit from the Scrapbook Bytes iNSBD blog hop. It's called Picnic, and I loved the happy color scheme.

Disney Scrapbook Page: Small World Ride

One of the first rides we went on during our Disney trip was the Small World ride. It's my father-in-law's favorite ride and he wanted to go with the kids for the first time. The entire trip was magical, but this particular ride was really special.

There are a lot of small details that tie into the theme on my page. I used a wave punch, dolls, and a piece of ephemera from the trip. (A stroller rental pass.) It couldn't have been more perfect if I'd have planned it! You can click on the image for a closer view.

Disney Scrapbook Page_Small World Ride

I also used a Pagemaps sketch by Becky Fleck to create this layout. I've mentioned before that I struggle with two page layouts. Disney layouts are usually the only time I HAVE to make two pagers to fit all of the photos I take. Most of my supplies came from an older Scraptastic Club kit called "Alphabet Soup For Girls".

Project Life Card: SVG Freebie

Here's the next SVG freebie in my attitude series. It's a Project Life sized card and frame that says YOLO. (The abbreviation for "You only live once.") Most people have a love/hate relationship with the saying, but my pre-teen girls have picked it up and I have plans to use it for a future layout. Jordan told me YOLO to get me to ride the Expedition Everest ride when we were in Disney World.

Free Sketch & Digital Template 37

Hi everyone! I'm back to share my latest sketch and free digital template. Feel free to pin the sketch to Pinterest or save it to your computer for later use. I'd also love to see anything you create with it.

Free Digital Template_Scrapbook Sketch

It sounds hard to believe, but I actually dreamed this layout. I dreamed about the Instagram photos on my desk and I had the idea for the sunglasses die cut. Then the sunglasses tied into the title I wanted to use. When I finally got time to scrap, this layout came together really quickly.

I am in love with the new gold trend in scrapping. I used gold washi tape, mist, and chunky glitter all on one project. My supplies came from the May 2013 scrapbook kit from The Sampler.

As always, my MMD Divas did an incredible job making example projects to share with everyone. I'm lucky to have such talented women on my team.

Sharon Fritchman says: The photo on my layout was taken at Arrowhead Lake when Anne and I visited my friend's cabin in April of this year. I loved the serenity that I felt there and wanted to reproduce that feeling on my layout. Heather's sketch was a great way to enhance my photo! As always, I found her sketch to be very versatile and fun! I replaced the start on the sketch with rosette flowers.

Sharon Fritchman_Arrowhead Lake_Scrapbook

Lesley Walker says: I loved the photo so much I tried to interpret all the shades in it, in my layout by way of either paper or embellishments. I used a Cheery Lynne die for the fancy circle, MS punch for the outer edge, and a mask with ink to interpret the water she had just poured all over herself, hope you enjoy it, I loved doing this page.

Marlene Murphy says: I wanted to scrap these ultrasound pictures and don't think they make much sense separately, so I used the versatility of this sketch and added a picture. The striped background was made by using Tim Holtz Distress Paint in Spun Sugar. I love this product, but you need to allow time for it to dry, it takes longer than the inks or stains. The original color (in this case white) will show through the paint so you get some depth which suits my scrap style. I usually don't add much bling or sparkles, yet the occasion begs for bling! Look out for some girlie pages from me, I am going to be a gramma to a little girl!

Sandi Pressley says: My granddaughter was all tuckered out after her birthday party and fell asleep in mid-sentence!
