Boy Oh Boy: Boy Themed Scrapbook Pages

I thought I'd stop by today to share two more boy-themed scrapbook pages. Remember how I mentioned Brandon's car obsession yesterday? Here he is again with a car in one hand while watching TV, and he even held one while going to sleep. It was an all day, every day thing.

I have been hoarding that car patterned paper forever, and I finally decided to use it. This layout is a bit busier than my normal projects, but I still like the way it turned out. I also used an embellishment that is several years old. (That big orange arrow is a Scenic Route die cut.) I'm doing some serious stash busting over here!

My kids are lucky to have such an awesome Uncle. Brian always plays with them, and the kids climb all over him. On this particular day, Brandon decided that Uncle Brian would make a great horse. Of course, I had to take photos to scrapbook.

I have a few more pages to share from this epic kit, but I haven't photographed them yet. I'm going to have to get on that. Thanks for stopping by!

The (Really) Great Outdoors: Boy Themed Pages

Alexis' surgery went really well yesterday even though we had to wait for hours before they actually took her back. She was convinced that she was going to starve to death because she had to fast. Poor kiddo. She is doing much better today and I'm sure she'll be back to 100% soon. Thank you all so much for the well wishes and prayers.

Today on my blog, I'd like to share two more pages that I made with my huge Echo Park kit. The first layout was made a few weeks ago when I had a friend over to scrapbook. These photos of Brandon totally crack me up because he always made the most exaggerated faces when he first learned how to blow bubbles. We frequently went out on the carport to blow bubbles when it was raining and he couldn't go out into the yard.

The next project also features pictures of Brandon outside. He's definitely all boy and loves to be outdoors as much as possible. I treasure these photos because they remind me how Brandon always carried a train, car, or truck around with him when he was tiny. It didn't matter what he did, he'd do it with one hand so he could hold a vehicle.

I appreciate you taking the time to stop by my blog today. I will be back soon with more boy themed pages to share!

iPhoneography: Everyday Life

Alexis is having her eye surgery this morning, so prayers and good thoughts would be very appreciated. I'm sure everything will be fine, but she's nervous and so am I.

Brandon has been obsessed with having Sophie sleep in his bed, but Sophie isn't interested at all. She was supposed to be Brandon's dog, but she's under the impression that she belongs wherever I am. She sleeps on my feet in the bed. The other night, Ronnie decided to make him a very happy little boy by letting him sleep with Sophie in our bed.

Brandon's been super tired after basketball practice several times a week. He's very excited to play his first game, and he's keeping a running count of how many baskets he makes. The girls and I ask him what the total is every time he comes home from practice!

Last Friday, we went to my grandparents' house to see how the renovations were coming. We brought my grandpa a cake because the kids were highly upset that "Nobody baked their poor Paw Paw a birthday cake". They asked him what kind of cake he had when they called on his birthday, and they found the lack of cake totally unacceptable.

They are all fascinated with the old boat in the pond in the backyard, and they decided that they needed to pull it out so they could see it. They were having a hard time pulling it out and Jordan said she needed some water to reduce friction on the hull. They did eventually move it a bit, but only with some help from my cousin.

Sophie has definitely made herself at home, and this is her new spot. She sleeps on the arm of the couch with her head on the end table. Brandon is always wherever she is. She follows me, and he follows her. It's an all day thing.

We went to small group at Church Of The King on Monday and the kids put their heads in the cut outs of the knight and the princess.

All of the kids got to play in the empty tube zone while the adults had a nice chat. It's nice to have some grown up time with our kids being so content to hang out together.

I have two more little boy themed layouts that I created with the massive Echo Park kit I made, and I'll be back soon to share them.

Missing My Baby Boy

I mentioned on a previous post that I pulled a bunch of Echo Park scraps together to form one huge boy themed kit. It was a great way to create quite a few pages while using a ton of older product. I'm all about trying to use goodies from my stash lately!

Many of the papers matched pictures from when Brandon was really little. I took a walk down memory lane by scrapping lots of sweet baby photos. I miss him being this tiny! My first project features Brandon's professional pictures from his six month old shoot. I kept the embellishments to a minimum to keep the focus on my darling boy!

My husband smiled when he saw the next layout because it made him remember how I used to dress Brandon in a very preppy manner. Now all he wants to wear is jeans and tee shirts. I'm lucky if I can sneak a button down shirt in there on Sunday for church.

Grid pages are my favorite way to use lots of tiny paper scraps from collections that I love!

I'll be back soon with a photo update. This week we are off of homeschool for Alexis' eye surgery because she'll need some time to recover. We're going to take one week off for Christmas, instead of two like the public schools to make up for the missed days.

You Can't Make This Stuff Up: SVG Word Art Freebie

My kids are always getting into the craziest situations, and I end up with photos that no regular title can adequately describe. I decided to make a SVG freebie with a phrase that I often use to describe my kids' mischief. "You just can't make this stuff up." If your kids are as creative and adventurous as mine are, you might be able to use this word art file!

You can download your free word art SVG here so you can cut a huge title for your silly and unexpected photos. Please remember to respect my terms of use, and thank you for stopping by my blog.

Pumpkins, Volunteering, and a Little Dog Too!

I never did post our pumpkin patch and Halloween photos! I'm totally slacking. Fall is a really busy season for us, and I take a ton of pictures. I decided to make a few collages so I could shorten the length of my blog post.

We visited the pumpkin patch the last weekend before Halloween. It was absolutely insane, but the kids had a great time. The corn maze was new, but the covered wagon wasn't. The kids get their picture taken on it every year. I decided to edit the photos with a creamy action because we went right at lunch time and the sun was glaring. I think it softens them a bit.

We went to a library Halloween party a few days before the big day. I was able to get some lovely portraits of the kiddos in their Halloween costumes. The one of Brandon fussing at me cracks me up. Apparently, I was under arrest. Who knew!?

Of course, we had to carve the pumpkins that we got at the pumpkin patch! Everyone around here knows that I am completely, utterly grossed out by pumpkin guts. I bribe my family and friends to get them out for me every Halloween. Miss J was trying to torture me in the picture on the bottom right. Ewww.... guts!

I've also been volunteering like a crazy at our church. They opened a new building last weekend and all of the volunteers have pitched in to assemble furniture. I'm on the childcare team as well, and I pulled extra shifts with the five year old class after my regular service time. The new children's area reminds me of Disney World, it's just beautiful!

Something else has been keeping me busy as well. The cutie pie in the photos below is named Sophie, and she's the newest addition to our home. I got an email through my homeschool group from someone looking to re-home an older cocker spaniel. She's obedience trained, house trained, crate trained, and super patient with the kids. Jordan has brushed her so much that her coat sparkles in the sun. It's a good thing that she doesn't mind!

She came from a home where her owner went off to college, and she was left behind with his Mom. She was super lonely without anyone to play with, so they decided to find her a home with younger kids to love on her. Yay for us! We already love her to bits, and the best part? Every time I'm asleep, if the kids come to ask me a question she barks at them like... "Can't you see she's sleeping?" I've started calling her "Nap Defender".

That's all for now, but I'm sure I'll be back soon with some layouts to share. I made a HUGE kit with a bunch of boy-themed Echo Park scraps and I've been scrapping up a storm.

Get In The Water Layout: Beachy Humor

It's been over a week since I posted, but I have a great excuse! I've been busy scrapbooking so I could finish using more older kits. That's good news, because now I'll have bunches of content for my blog.

Today's layout uses three photos of my silly brother yelling at a decidedly dead fish on the beach in Mississippi. He was highly insulted that the fish was on the beach and declared that it should "GET IN THE WATER!". He was so obsessed that we finally had to go throw the fish in the water just so he would calm down.

My design is a blatant lift of Lydia Jackson's All Jacked Up project on page 20 of the October 2013 issue of Creating Keepsakes. The "Go" stamp is an older one that I created when I worked for Scraptastic Club, and the kit is an older Scraptastic kit.
