Oh Boy! She's Recovering: Disney 2013

We've been pretty busy with therapy appointments three times a week, but I wanted to drop by for a quick post. Jordan is learning how to walk again, and today she took her first steps without her walker. She is miles past what the doctor said she would be capable of doing. He estimated that she would begin re-learning how to walk six weeks after the surgery. She's only four weeks out, and she's walking on her own. Her determination has always amazed me, but it doesn't surprise me anymore. In fact, I warned him that she was going to recover quickly due to God's blessing on her life, and sheer grit.

Needless to say, keeping up with her has been a full time job. I haven't been able to scrapbook lately, but I do have a layout that I made over a month ago to share. I'm looking forward to scrapping with a close friend soon. It seems like I haven't played with paper in ages!

I was inspired the right side of this fabulous sketch that Susan Stringfellow made for Basic Grey. Her sketches are always wonderful.

I used Crate Paper's Toy Box collection and embellishments on this project. They went wonderfully with the colors in my pictures. I also chose some clear epoxy Disney stickers to add to the theme. Meeting Mater was one of the highlights of Brandon's Disney trip!

A Toy Story Ride: Disney 2013

Jordan's pain level is finally going down a bit, and she's only hurting when I have to pick her up. Unfortunately, I have to move her around quite a bit to avoid bed sores and muscle spasms. She's getting better, it's just a slow process. She's gotten a few more cards over the past week, and I will be sure to share a photo of her with them soon.

Today, I'd like to share a scrapbook page that I made several weeks ago. The longest wait we encountered in Disney World was for the Toy Story ride. It was a relatively new attraction, and the line was insane. It was all worth it in the end, because the kids all had a wonderful time! I'm just a bit bummed that I couldn't get a photo of Lexie because she was in the other part of the ride with Ronnie.

The supplies on this layout came from an older Crate Paper collection called Toy Box. It's one of my favorite boy themed collections of all time, and the toy accents worked perfectly with the theme.

Post Surgery Update: Miss Jojo Rocks!

As you can imagine, I'm super busy with helping Jordan recover after her surgery. Her surgery was on the 31st, and the first night was really hard on her. We couldn't pick her up or touch her at all without causing her a massive amount of pain. It took them a long time to figure out which pain medicines worked best for her. She finally got some relief on the second day. It's surreal to know that she has two broken legs. My baby!

We were at the hospital for three days, and she was super excited to break out. (The fact that she could have ice cream for breakfast didn't make her want to stay.) I improvised a foot support with some foam for our hour long drive home, and thankfully it helped keep her pain level to a minimum.

The surgery was very successful, and her knee caps are no longer "kissing". She's already standing with support and taking small steps with a walker. It's absolutely amazing that's she's so determined to walk again. She has been such a trooper! I'll try to keep everyone posted on what's going on through my blog.

Before I go, I wanted to take a minute to say thank you to everyone who took the time out of their busy lives to send cards to cheer up Miss J. It took her days to open all of them, and they were a perfect distraction when the pain was too intense. There's a photo of her with all of the opened cards in the collage above. You guys absolutely rock!
