Enjoy The Drive

I have a pile of layouts that I've completed, but I haven't been able to find time to share them on my blog. If I have limited time and I have to decide if I want to scrap or blog, scrapping usually wins!  I have a little bit of extra time on my hands tonight, so here goes...

The first page I'm posting features pictures of Jordan at her first NASCAR race. She was very excited to make the trip with her Daddy, but she thought the cars were way too loud. Her sensory issues made it hard to tolerate, and they had to leave early. We were super proud of her for trying!

I also have a digital scrapbook page to share today! It includes photos of my super fantastic grandparents from our last fishing trip. Aren't they the cutest? I used Bella Gypsy's Naturally Cute kit and Scrappin' With Liz's Template 41 to create this design.

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas, and I'm wishing each of you a wonderfully blessed New Year!

I have been struggling with the fact that my kids are growing up entirely too fast lately. It seems like I blinked and they got significantly older overnight. I am not a fan! I tried to convince them to stop growing, but it's not working at all. They're mean! Alexis turned 14 today. Sigh. I decided to make a scrapbook page about it all because that is how I process things sometimes. (Not surprised are you? LOL)

I used Mommyish's Daily Newsletter kit and her Template 5 freebie. I loved the clean, graphic look of her collections. They fit very well with my scrappy style!

The next layout I have to share today is a pocket page, and I used some of the journaling cards I had left from Crate Paper's Open Road collection. These pictures are from a day trip to the lakefront years ago. You can see how much they've grown just in this blog post! Excuse me while I sniffle a bit... Sheesh.

Here's wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Thank you so much for reading my blog this year.

Eyes Closed

I'm writing my first post on my new laptop, and I'm trying to figure out an entirely different operating system. If anything doesn't look right please let me know! Today I'd like to post two projects that share the same page protector. I love the pocket page scrapping style because it's easy to use scraps and the whole design goes very quickly.

The first layout features photos of Brandon at a sleepover with my Mom. He kept telling us that he wasn't sleepy and he wouldn't let me take his picture because he's a little stinker.

On the back of the same protector, there are photos of my kids with their cousins. My Mom brought them up to our house for a sleepover, and Ronnie decided to bring them to the park. They were all so little, and I can't believe how fast they've all grown up.

I used Crate Paper's Open Road collection to scrap these projects. I had too many embellishments left over to toss the paper scraps, and I'm glad I didn't. I love how I was able to utilize so many tiny leftover pieces.

Let's Go!

I'm still on a break from scrapping Disney photos because I'm a bit burnt out. I'm sure I'll get back to them soon, but in the mean time I'll share some other pages that I'm working on. I found these adorable pictures of Brandon shoved in a kit, so I decided to scrap them. When Brandon was little, he used to run outside to get in his little toy car when I would open the door to walk the dog in the morning. I love these photos of my tiny escapee outside in his pajamas.

I used Crate Paper's Open Road collection on this project. I know, I said I was finished with it, but I had so many embellishments left over that I had to figure out how to use the remaining scraps with lots of embellies.

I also have a digital layout to share today. I'm still working on learning my way around the new software, but I'm getting there. This is a companion page to the last project I did about our Miracle League fishing trip. It features pictures of Jordan with my brother. I thought they looked so cute while they were chatting. I found out later that she was asking him if she could go for a swim since she was wearing a life jacket. Uh... no?

Once again, I used The Lily Pad's Ultimate Vacation kit. It's about time that I start using all of the digital supplies that I've accumulated. I'm looking forward to it.

I'm wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving filled with family and love. Have a great holiday!

Good Fortune

I took a break from scrapping Disney photos because I wanted to finish the Pink Paislee Hey Kid kit that I was using. I already scrapped all of the vacation pictures that matched it, so I grabbed a few black and white Instagrams that I had on my desk to create this project.

Post Surgery Scrapbook Page_Cerebral Palsy
Jordan had major leg surgery over a year ago, and she got this fortune a day or two after she got home. It was perfect because she was just beginning to learn how to walk again. I had to take a picture and scrap it! I was inspired by Creative Scrappers sketch 217.

I also have a card to share today. I made it for a contest, but I didn't win so I get to share it here now. I used some scraps from Crate Paper's Close Knit line and a few die cuts from my Silhouette. (I love that thing!)

Feminine Soft_Thank You_Card_Heather Landry
That's all for today. I'm gearing up for not one but TWO Thanksgiving celebrations, planning a major home renovation, and I'm homeschooling as usual. Is it any wonder that I have a laundry couch? Do you have a laundry couch? I can't be the only one.

Digitally Challenged

I haven't posted any digital pages in about a year because I upgraded my software right before I started my new job, and I never really found time to learn how to use it. Recently, I've started going through some of the older classes that I purchased on Jessica Sprague's site so I can figure out what I'm doing. It's taken me a while, but I'm proud to say that I've managed to create a digital layout!

Jordan and Brandon were invited to a special fishing trip for kids who play in the Miracle League. We got to go on a chartered trip with a super nice captain who helped us catch five redfish and four sheepheads. The kids were super happy. The picture on this project came from their pose with the fish that they caught. It was a great day!

All of the supplies on my page came from The Lily Pad's Ultimate Vacation collaboration kit. I even used a template from the kit. I've got to get back in to scrapping digitally slowly and designing with a template definitely helped.

Meeting @ Epcot: Disney 2014

Multi-tasking is my middle name now that I'm homeschooling. Currently, I'm cooking lunches for the week while listening to the girls arguing over peeling potatoes. They're working together, but they are fussing over who is the fastest potato peeler. I don't really care who is faster, I am just glad I don't have to peel them myself. That means I get a five minute break so I can blog!

Today I'm sharing a layout that features pictures of the above mentioned girls with Goofy and Minnie. On that particular day of our trip, Ronnie had to bring Brandon back to the hotel because he got overwhelmed and needed a break. The girls and I wandered around and happened upon a character greeting spot. We went in and had a great time goofing around with the characters.

Characters_Goofy_Minnie_Disney World_Scrapbook

I used Crate Paper's Open Road collection to scrap this page. I decided to go with a bit of a retro feel because all of the backgrounds were retro Disney graphics at the character spot. You can't really tell in the photos, but it helps me remember. Goodness knows I need all of the help I can get with remembering! It's time for me to get back to cooking now. Thank you for stopping by my blog.

Living With The Land: Disney 2014

The kids had never been on Epcot's Living With The Land ride, so we had to remedy that on our last trip because it's one of my father-in-law's favorite rides. I find it quite interesting as well, but I don't think the kids were as impressed. Still, they love their Paw Paw so they oohed and aahed at all the right spots and looked appropriately entertained. And for that... I thank them! (What I don't thank them for is for making me go on the Soarin' ride, but that's a whole different story. Me + Fear Of Heights + Simulated Flying = NO FUN! I get nauseated just thinking about it. Never, ever again. Like EVER.)

This layout was created with Crate Paper's Open Road collection. The papers that I re-ordered were slightly wrinkled when they came in, but I used them anyway because they're getting hard to find. Hopefully they will flatten out a bit more when I put them into the page protectors!

Trip Memories: Disney 2014

We bought the PhotoPass+ card on our last trip to Disney, and there were a few really good photos. Unfortunately, I was disappointed to find out that the majority of the pictures needed a lot of editing. (Many of them were too dark, and I even had a few that were so bad I couldn't use them.) It's sad to think about when you pay so much money for the CD. I understand that they have a bunch of different people to photograph, but just a few checks to make sure everything came out okay would do wonders. I don't know if I'll buy it next time, but if I don't I'll definitely miss all of the big shots with our whole family.

Anyway, time to step down from my soap box. The photo on the layout below is one of the better images that I received. We always make sure to have our family photos done in front of the iconic features in each park. It's a neat way to see how much the kids have grown in between trips! (Let's not talk about the appearance of aging on the older crowd. Ha!)

Epcot_Crate Paper_Family_Disney World_Scrapbook

As you can see, I broke down and bought more of Crate Paper's Open Road line. It really worked so well with my pictures, and I had a ton of embellishments left from my kit. Plus, my friend gave me the leftover embellishments in her kit. I ordered coordinating paper so I could make a few more pages with it.

The Incredibles: Disney 2014

Brandon didn't have much to do with the characters during our last Disney trip. He wore his headphones, and he stayed back while the girls greeted everyone and got their autographs. I guess most of the characters could tell something was up, so they didn't approach him.

When we met the Incredibles, Frozone gestured toward Brandon to ask me if he could talk to him. I nodded, so he went over and lightly touched his hand. Of course, Brandon ran behind me frantically and hid but I really appreciated that Frozone tried. That wasn't the end of his kindness either... He actually helped me get Jordan back in her wheelchair. It was really sweet of him, and I have yet another Disney memory that I'll never forget!

Incredibles_Scrapbook Page_Autism_Disney World

I used Pink Paislee's Hey Kid line to create this layout. I thought the doodles, ties, and glasses were fun for the theme. I'm very happy with my decision to use a dark background because it makes the colors pop!

Cool Kid: Disney 2014

It's been a while, but I'm back to share another layout! I loved this paper from the Pink Paislee "Hey Kid" collection, but I didn't want to cover up the super circles. I ended up using an x-acto knife to cut one of them out so I could back it with a photo. This was a great page to embellish with fun little pieces.

Lego Store_Scrapbook Page_Circles_Staples

I can't even imagine how many Lego bricks went into making some of the cool displays that we got to see at the Lego Store. Brandon really liked the huge Hulk figure, but my favorite was the boat outside. We love assembling Lego sets, but I don't think he and I could get through something that big!

Abita Park

I recently found these photos of my little chubby faced one year old, and when I looked at the date I was shocked. 7 years ago! I miss our little adventures while the girls were at school. I got to introduce Brandon to the world, and he helped me see everything like it was new again. The amazing thing is that when I look at these photos I can still see the wonder on his face, feel the joy, and hear the giggles. That is truly what scrapbooking is all about for me. It freezes a moment in time and holds it forever so I can revisit the past. It's why I've never quit scrapbooking even through busy seasons in my life.

Toddler Boy_Park_Scrapbook Page_Masculine
I used Crate Paper's Toy Box collection to create this page. It is a perfect collection for a little boy because there are so many fun embellishments. I'm sad that I'm out of it now, but I'd like to think that I put it to good use.

We still go to the same park, but now my little boy is all grown up. My girls are even more grown. Does anyone know how to make it stop?! I keep telling them that it doesn't matter how old they get. They will always, ALWAYS be my babies. (Whether they like it or not!)

The Barnstormer: Disney 2014

We made it a point to explore attractions that we've never been on during our recent Disney trip. We were able to find several rides that were new to us! Alexis wanted to try the Barnstormer roller coaster, so we got in line. Amazingly, it was a pretty long wait before we got to the front. Once we were there, the ride itself went by really quickly. Jordan sat with me, but Alexis was in the car in front of us. I was able to catch a sweet picture of her smiling. I decided that the photo deserved a page all by itself. I love seeing so much joy on her face!

Barnstormer_Magic Kingdom_Goofy_Scrapbook_Disney World

Ronnie and Brandon sat outside of the ride and waited for us because Brandon was pretty overstimulated. They had to take our word about the Barnstormer experience, but they enjoyed the break.

This project was created with Crate Paper's Toy Box collection. You can tell that I'm getting down to the last few scraps in this kit, but I really like how this layout turned out.

Taking Flight: Disney 2014

Today I have two Disney scrapbook pages to share! I think this last trip is going to require two albums because I had so many wonderful photos that needed to be scrapped. My first project features one of the few happy pictures that I got of Brandon. He wore his headphones during the trip because we knew that he would probably have meltdowns due to the noise and crowds. He did very well, but we could tell that he was overwhelmed. Still, he swears that he had fun.

Lego Store_Happy Boy_Downtown Disney_Scrapbook_Autism

He definitely loved the Lego store in the Downtown Disney area. He saved all of his souvenir money so he could buy two Minecraft Lego sets! That definitely got a smile out of him.

My next layout features a few shots that I snapped on the Dumbo attraction, and Alexis got her own elephant to fly in this time! She's growing up so fast that my head is spinning. She may not want to go on silly kiddie rides with us for much longer, but I definitely hope that she will.

Dumbo_Ride_Disney World_Scrapbook_Magic Kingdom

I used Crate Paper's Toy Box line to create these designs. I couldn't pass up the circus ticket and the little balloon embellishment. The collection has been in my stash for quite a while, but after I share two more pages that I've created with it... I'll be done! I love it when I finish a kit like that.

T-Rex: Disney 2014

I wasn't sure if the kids would like Downtown Disney's T-Rex restaurant because some of the reviews said that it was really loud. They enjoyed the Rainforest Cafe and it seemed to be a similar environment, so we decided to risk it. I'm so glad we did because we had a wonderful time! The decor was so much fun and the dinosaurs were super cool.

T-Rex_Dinosaur_Downtown Disney_Scrapbook

I used Crate Paper's Toy Box collection to create this page. It's an older product line, but it's still totally adorable! The die cuts are from Miss Kate's Cuttables and they couldn't be any more perfect.

Beauty & The Beast: Disney 2014

Jordan and I were very excited to get front row seats during the Beauty and the Beast show in Disney's Hollywood Studios on our last trip. Ronnie and I haven't seen the show since our honeymoon fifteen years ago, and it was neat to get to share it with the kids.

Beauty And The Beast_Hollywood Studios_Scrapbook

We stayed at the Polynesian while we were there, and you can't stay in that resort without eating at Ohana at least once! We decided to eat breakfast so the kids could meet the characters. Stitch tried to eat Jordan's head again, and we all laughed. She must just look edible?

These layouts were made with Echo Park's Beautiful Life collection. The colors worked wonderfully with the photos that I took on our trip. The Mickey shapes were cut on my Silhouette, and I embossed them with my Cuttlebug. The two page spread was inspired by a sketch from PageMaps and the background was created with Silhouette pens.

Deep Under The Sea: Disney 2014

Every single time we go to Disney World, there's something different to do. You never have the same experience twice, and I think that's a big part of the magic. We love the changes Disney made when they added the new Ariel area. The castle and surrounding scenery are incredibly beautiful. We really enjoy the ride as well. The Little Mermaid was my favorite movie when I was little, so I'm not surprised how much I love it!

Ariel_Little Mermaid_Scrapbook Page

I used the My Creative Scrapbook August 2013 kit to create this layout. It featured Echo Park's Beautiful Life line. I kept this page really simple because the photos were so bright and busy. Thanks go to the fabulous Becky Fleck at PageMaps for the wonderful sketch I used.

Anna Made Me Cry: Disney 2014

We have been on several trips to Disney World, and we have had many magical experiences there. I usually end up with a few special moments from each vacation that are very memorable. I honestly don't think I ever cried before this last trip though. When Jordan met Anna, she was really overwhelmed and very excited. She started shaking, and then she started crying. Anna saved the day by bending down to give her the biggest hug ever, and I ended up crying. We were all a total mess!

Anna_Frozen_Scrapbook Page_My Creative Scrapbook Kit

I used the My Creative Scrapbook August 2013 kit to create this layout. (Yes, I have kits that are two years old. I'm working on it! LOL) It featured Echo Park's Beautiful Life line.

Chocolate Chirp Cookies

We only have one more weekend of Miracle League basketball games before our break. Ronnie and I have been coaching for over a year now, and it's so rewarding! Alexis has been doing a wonderful job as a helper. I snapped a shot of her while she was shooting hoops before the rest of the kids got there. I also got a photo of Brandon while he was trying to find the "perfect ball".

After our Miracle League game last Saturday, we headed to the Audubon Insectarium to hang out with my best friend from high school. I haven't seen her in ten years and I missed her so much! We explored the exhibits and enjoyed the creepy crawly things. I didn't realize until I got the pictures off of my camera that I caught Alexis' reflection in the glass.

The butterfly garden was my favorite part of the exhibit. It was so neat to see them flying everywhere. They are so dainty and lovely! We can't wait to go back so we can see them again.

It would be hard to choose a favorite shot from our trip, but this one ranks in the top five! I only wish I could've caught it with the wings open because it was even more gorgeous. This photo doesn't do it justice at all.

The Insectarium offers a very different opportunity to visitors. They let you eat bugs! There were several offerings including "chocolate chirp cookies" with an entire cricket on the top of every cookie. Ronnie ate his, and my godson tolerated his as well. The big surprise was that Jordan ate THREE cookies! I'm glad I got it on video.

Here's a picture of our entire group! Ronnie was sweet enough to snap this one for us. Isn't he awesome? He also found a parking space for us in downtown New Orleans. It was absolutely crazy to visit the city on a Saturday in the summer.

I bought an Audubon membership for our family because it was only a little more than one trip would've cost. We are looking forward to going to the aquarium, and to the zoo. We can't go to the zoo until it cools down though because my van's display said that it was 106 degrees today. It definitely felt like it when we were at the park.

Vacation In Paradise: Disney 2014

We stayed at the Polynesian again during our last Disney trip. We love the amenities and the fact that it's on the monorail. Access to the monorail is important to us because it's a lot easier for Jordan to get around.

Vacation_Hotel_Polynesian_Disney World

I was the biggest Scenic Route fan before they closed, and I definitely have been hoarding their paper ever since. Nancy totally enabled my obsession a few years ago when she sent me a bunch of Scenic Route goodies that she had in her stash. I had to break some out to scrap about our stay at the Polynesian. The Grafton line was perfect for the theme and the colors worked really well. The wood veneers are from Prima, and I also pulled bling from my stash.

Do you have products that you've hoarded because you love them so much? Which manufacturer is your favorite?

Summer Vacation (Finally!): Photo Update

If I said we had an interesting homeschool year in 2014-2015, that would be putting it lightly. Three surgeries, one vacation, multiple illnesses, and many injuries later... we are finally having our summer vacation! I took this photo of the three kids on the first morning that we didn't have school. They were all piled up on the couch together like puppies. I do think that homeschooling has improved their relationships beyond anything I could imagine. They still fight, but they are a lot closer than they have ever been.

One of the interesting things about homeschool is that you are with your kids all the time. Imagine my confusion the other day when Jordan declared that I haven't been spending time with her! Huh? I'm with her all the time. It turned out that she needed some one on one time with me. I recently took her on a coffee date and we had a wonderful time. She is obsessed with frozen coffee just like her Momma!

I also learned the importance of taking care of myself this year. I injured my knee in November the day before we left for our Disney trip. The Disney trip was paid in full, so I went and walked on it during the trip. I finally made the time to go to the doctor this week, and he said that I probably have a left lateral meniscus tear. I have an MRI scheduled soon because the pain is getting worse. I should've done something about it earlier. I'm dreading the results!

We got to see Alexis' birth brother last week for the first time in three years. He is being homeschooled as well now due to health issues, and they got to talk about how much they LOVE Math. (NOT!) I can't believe that she's 13 and he's 14. It seems like they were tiny toddlers yesterday.

Nathan took this picture of me with the kids. They usually climb on me like a jungle gym, and you can tell that we are always together. No one has a concept of personal space, but I don't mind cuddly kids. Even when it's hot. I love them!

I've spent the first week of my summer vacation repainting and decorating my hall bathroom. I went with a nautical theme because of this printable from Kimberly Geswein Fonts. It's one of my favorite Bible verses and I couldn't resist designing the entire bathroom around it.

Brandon started his summer vacation in an unpleasant way. He caught the stomach flu and I've been cleaning like a madwoman to keep it from spreading through the house. He is finally feeling better today and I'm very thankful. My poor baby boy!

We have a busy week coming up because we are trying to pack as much summer into our vacation as possible. I'm working on posting updates here on a regular basis because I love looking back at our stories on my blog. Lately, I've only been posting scrapbook pages and that wasn't the original plan!

A Wild & Crazy Adventure: Disney 2014

I love the family pictures that we get when we go to Disney World. Let's face it, I'm not usually in the photos I take around here. I'm much more comfortable behind the camera. If it weren't for Disney trips, I'm sure we wouldn't have many family pictures at all! This one was taken in the Animal Kingdom. It was a weird weather day because the sun was shining while it was raining.

Animal Kingdom_Disney World_Stitching_Family Portrait

I lifted this layout that I had in my favorites at Scrapbook.com, but as usual my design ended up going in a different direction. I love trying to scraplift, but it cracks me up that I always end up going off on my own tangent. Once again, the supplies are from Basic Grey's Second City line. I added some Thickers and bling from my stash. The stitching was done with my sewing machine. I don't do that often, but I always love the way it turns out.

Mickey & Friends: Disney 2014

Brandon doesn't really like the characters to touch him when we go to Disney World, so he's not really into the character breakfasts. We always make sure that they don't come near him, and he quietly eats his breakfast. He did enjoy the napkin dance at Chef Mickey's! It is a tradition in our family. Every time we go to Disney, we start one of our days there.

Chef Mickey's_Scrapbook Page_Disney World_Banner

I love how Basic Grey's Second City line really pops against the black background paper, and it matches my photos perfectly. The stamps are from Scraptastic Club, but I added some purple Stickles to jazz the images up a bit.
