Do What Makes You Happy: Disney 2014

I'm so thrilled to be posting my last two Disney layouts. I finally finished scrapping our 2014 trip. It only took me two years!

I love this picture of my two boys so much that I'm planning to have it printed again so I can hang it on my wall. I took this photo while we were waiting for a show in the Animal Kingdom. They were sitting on the ground while we were in line because Brandon was tired.

I used Crate Paper's Boys Rule line to create this page. The embellishments were perfect for my guys who like cars and video games. It's a perfect boy themed collection!

We came back from the parks early one day and we found Ronnie's parents on a swing at the beach outside of our room at the Polynesian. I opened our door and quietly snapped this picture of the two of them. I thought it would be the perfect way to end my Disney album.

I loved the color combination in the Fancy Pants Burlap And Bouquets collection. I thought I might have a hard time working with it since it's a bit too girly for my style, but it all worked out well in the end.

Mr. Triceratops: Disney 2014

Jordan had some spending money when we went to Disney World, but she had a really hard time spending it. There were so many things to choose, and so many stores that she pretty much shut down and wouldn't pick anything. When she saw the Build-A-Dino store in the T-Rex restaurant, she knew what she wanted to do! She chose an adorable triceratops to call her own, and we got to watch her stuff it. She picked out clothes and decided to call him Mr. Triceratops. The best part? He roars!

I used My Mind's Eye's Now and Then Wild and Free collection to create this page. It went so well with the colors in my photos. (After I edited them to make them less intense.) The design was inspired by Susan Stringfellows sketch #154. I had a few scraps after I finished the layout, so I also made two coordinating cards to keep in my drawer. I love having a few cards on hand just in case.

I hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's day filled with love and sweetness! I got flowers and chocolate covered strawberries. Yum. What did you get?

Over It: Disney 2014

When we go to Disney, it's hard to find rides that everyone wants to do together. My in-laws and Ronnie don't like the thrill rides, but the kids don't want to go on the slower rides because they are getting older. The carousel is one of the few attractions that everyone enjoys together, and that makes it one of my favorites. I took so many pictures on this ride! I had a hard time choosing which photos to scrap.

I used My Mind's Eye's Now and Then Wild and Free collection to create a two page spread so I could include lots of pictures. See how happy everyone looks? I love remembering that moment through this project!

The next layout includes photos of Brandon taking a break before the Fantasmic show. He was a little over it that night. The noise and the crowds were starting to overwhelm him and I worried if we would make it through the show. Thankfully, he perked up when my in-laws bought him a light saber. He used it to bonk his sisters on the head and all was right in his world again.

This design uses My Mind's Eye's Cut and Paste Presh collection. The hashtags and geotags were perfect, and I loved the "You Are The Salt To My Pepper" sticker. So cute!

Fantasmic: Disney 2014

The kids got light sabers at the Fantasmic show because my in-laws spoil them rotten. They waved them around before the show started, but once it began I ended up holding Brandon. He didn't like the fireworks too much, so I had to comfort him. I didn't get any photos of the fireworks, but I did get some good cuddles so I'm calling it a win.

Basic Grey's Aurora collection was absolutely perfect for the colors in my pictures. My friend Stephanie gave it to me, and I'm so glad she did because it saved me from having to buy another collection with purple in it. This layout was inspired by a PageMaps sketch.

I'm a big fan of scrapping my real life, and some of the moments aren't too upbeat. Many of you know that I'm the parent of three kids with special needs and they keep me busy. Brandon's autism makes it easy for him to be overwhelmed by loud noises and public places, but we try not to let that change the quality of his life. We bring him everywhere, and if a meltdown occurs we deal with it. I don't think he should miss out on experiences due to autism. He did very well in Disney. In fact, he only got seriously upset twice. He went from happy to upset in a few minutes when we were waiting in a very large line to get into the Lion King show. Ronnie and I comforted him, and he was able to calm down and enjoy the show. Since it's such a big part of our life and his... I decided to scrapbook the pictures I took.

I used Basic Grey's Ambrosia line to create this page. I also pulled several bits and pieces from my stash to embellish this pocket page. My favorite was the "IT IS WHAT IT IS" sticker from Jillibean Soup because that's something we say in my house all the time.

Sweet Memories: Disney 2014

We had a super surprise when we visited the Contemporary for breakfast at Chef Mickey's. I had forgotten to put deodorant on before we left our hotel, so I went to search for a gift shop. I rounded a corner and saw a huge Frozen themed gingerbread castle! I quickly bought what I needed and rushed back to grab the kids so I could show them. We were all super impressed with it. You can tell how big the entire thing is when you look at how tiny the lady in the upper right photo appears.

I used Echo Park's Happy Holidays mini kit and a few buttons from my stash. I was able to complete this project quickly because I used a pocket page protector. I love those things!

Jordan was super excited to meet Sofia the First on our last trip. It was the only thing she really asked to do, so we had breakfast at Hollywood & Vine to meet Sofia at a character breakfast. Then we headed to the character meet up line to see Sofia AGAIN. We were glad to be able to make her so happy.

I used Lily Bee's Picket Fence collection to create this page. The flowers are from Lily Bee and Petaloo. The purple velvet letters are from Making Memories, and the white sticker is from Heidi Swapp. I also used a blingy rub on from Basic Grey to add a little sparkle to the clusters of flowers.

Adventure Awaits You: Disney 2014

I still have Disney layouts to share, but I'm finally finished scrapping every Disney photo I wanted to get on a page. I can't tell you all how super excited I am about that! Today, I have two projects to share. The first one includes pictures of the kids trying to pull the sword from the stone in the Magic Kingdom. They didn't have any luck, but they definitely had a good time trying!

I used My Mind's Eye's Ashbury Heights collection to make this layout, and I really love the rich colors. The washi tape set had the most beautiful patterns, so I used it throughout the design. I was inspired by a sketch from My Creative Scrapbook.

The next project was done in a pocket page protector, and you really can't beat those for getting some quick scrapping done. Ronnie took Brandon back to the hotel on the last day of our trip because he was just completely overwhelmed. The girls weren't ready to go back, so we stayed in Epcot to ride Soarin'. We also met Mickey! It was neat to spend some time with my girlies.

I used Basic Grey's Fresh Cut collection to make this layout. I had three sheets of paper and a sticker accent sheets from a Basic Grey Warehouse box that I purchased a while ago. I love how it all came together. The only other embellishments were buttons that I pulled from my stash.
