My Funny Valentine

Ronnie and I have been married for fifteen years as of this January. You don't get that far into a marriage without arguing or being disappointed. One of the best things about our relationship is our ability to laugh at ourselves when we mess up. Some of my favorite memories are times when we've laughed so hard that we cried. (I'm pretty glad that we have never been great at being super serious.)

This layout is the perfect example of our relationship and the ridiculousness that sometimes occurs. One year Ronnie forgot Valentine's day, and I got really upset. I've never been the type of person to expect big gifts. I am quite content with a heartfelt handwritten note. Unfortunately, he completely forgot to do anything that year and I was heartbroken. I cried and I don't do that often. He felt horrible, and the next day I got flowers. The card said, "I'm sorry for being stupid". I started laughing when I read it and now it's a story I'll never forget. I think it's awesome that we have the same sarcastic sense of humor. I really love him and I think I'll keep him.

This layout was created for one of the class assignments in Ashley Horton's Silhouette class on Scrapbook.com. I lifted her design a bit, but then I went off and did my own thing. That tends to happen a lot around here.

The supplies are all from Fancy Pant's Love Birds collection. This layout is way busier than my normal style, but I like it. I feel like this class is making me step out of my box and that's always a good thing.

XOXO

I signed up for Ashley Horton's free Silhouette class at Scrapbook.com, and I've slowly been working my way through it. I'm really enjoying watching her tips and tricks! This is the layout that I did based on the first lesson about layering titles.

I chose to scrap three pictures of the kids filling out their valentine cards a few years ago. It's amazing how quickly they've grown up!

I used Fancy Pant's Love Birds collection to create this page. I was inspired by a Scrapbook Challenges sketch as well. (I didn't lift Ashley's design because I needed to include more photos.)

I hope you all had a blessed Easter yesterday! I worked most of the weekend, but I still managed to fit some family time in here and there.

Buried Treasure & Stuff

I went into my bedroom this afternoon to scrapbook, and I found a kid asleep on my bed in the middle of the day. We have had some awful weather for the past few days, and Jordan decided to use her down time to take a nap. I'm not going to lie... I was kinda jealous! Since I couldn't use my Silhouette, I decided to write a blog post instead.

My kids love going to my grandparents' house because it's always an adventure. Maw Maw constantly has interesting plans and things to do around her house. There are chickens to feed, trees to climb, and so much more to explore! On a recent visit, the kids helped my grandma sift through a big pile of debris from a house that burnt down years ago. It's on the front of their property, and she's slowly been getting rid of sharp objects that could injure someone.

The kids decided that it was a treasure hunt and they found lots of "artifacts" including a bottle, rusty hemostats, and a lot of broken glass. Of course, I got roped into bringing most of that home!

I chose Basic Grey's Aurora line to scrap the Instagram photos that I had printed a few weeks ago. Instagram photos are a little harder for me to scrap, especially if I've used a filter on the photos. The different tints make choosing paper difficult.

I also have two cards to share today! The first one was created with supplies from My Mind's Eye's Cut And Paste Presh collection.

Next, I used scraps from Basic Grey's Fresh Cut collection to make this sunny card.

I love having a stash of cards for events, and I also can't throw scraps away until they are tiny. Card making solves both of those issues for me!

I hope you are all staying high and dry. The flooding in Louisiana is incredibly bad and we are very worried about friends and family members. So far, my house has been safe. We're spending time in prayer for everyone who has lost property, and are especially focusing our prayers on the families who have lost loved ones.

Together

As a Mom of three special needs kids, I spend a lot of time waiting. We wait at doctor's offices, but mostly we wait for hours at therapy appointments. Each appointment takes an hour, and sometimes we can't get the times to overlap. There have been days when I have been at the therapy facility for four hours. We stay busy trying to find ways to entertain ourselves until the kids are finished. When they were tiny, we would stroll around the walking path to visit the geese and ducks. Now that they're older, they play with electronics or read books.

I used My Mind's Eye's Ashbury Heights collection to create this page. I searched for all of the monochromatic colors I could grab from the leftovers in my stash. I loved the sticker that said, "Just keep swimming." It was just perfect!

Flu is Not Fun

Everyone at my house has been sick with the flu over the past two weeks. It seems to be my turn, so I'm resting and drinking lots of fluids. I thought I'd pop in to share a page that I made a few weeks ago. That counts as resting, right?

These pictures of Brandon and my brother make me smile. They have always loved hanging out together. They were reading a book at my grandparents' house, and I crept in quietly to snap a few photos. Jordan Wesley and I were really close growing up, so I think it's awesome that he and Brandon are buddies too.

I used My Mind's Eye's Ashbury Heights collection to make this layout. My design was inspired by Susan Stringfellow's sketch #155.

I hope you all are staying healthy! I'm working hard to get well before Easter so I can visit my family without worrying about getting them sick.
