Take Your Time

I participated in the August Music Inspiration challenge at Scrapbook.com and I was assigned Joan Jett's "I Love Rock and Roll" for inspiration. I pulled the title of my layout from the lyrics.

We asked the kids to take their time while we were feeding the parakeets at the Audubon Aquarium. They were supposed to be still so the parakeets would land on their food sticks to eat. Patience is not a strong point for young kids, so they all chased the parakeets and begged them to eat. Needless to say, they didn't have a lot of interested birds.

This page features a mix of different manufacturers, but most of the supplies came from Echo Park's Capture line. There are some Heidi Swapp puffy stickers, and My Mind's Eye's enamel dots as well. I love when I get to use some of my stash!

You Make Me Happy

Good morning! I thought I'd pop on quickly to share a layout I've done featuring a picture of a very tiny Brandon. The best part of scrapbooking is being able to capture important memories. When I look at this photo of my little man, I remember singing to him and snuggling.

One of our favorite songs to sing was "You are My Sunshine", so when I saw this card from My Mind's Eye's Cut and Paste Charm collection I knew I had to find a baby picture to scrap. My page came together quickly with a few small strips of paper and a couple of embellishments. This project makes me smile every time I look at it. I was inspired by Jana Eubank's "Hike" layout, but I went off on a tangent again so I'm not sure you can tell.

Get Up: Autism Walk

We have participated in a yearly autism walk since Brandon was diagnosed three years ago. We had a big group this year, and I took a bunch of photos to document the occasion. My sister-in-law even brought my brand new nephew to walk/roll. We had a great time. The biggest surprise was when my grandparents showed up. We were so happy to see them!

Most of the supplies on this layout are from Echo Park's Capture Life line, but I pulled some washi tape, enamel dots, and mist from my stash. I entered this layout into a music themed challenge at Scrapbook.com and I won! I was able to pick an extra song for everyone in this month's challenge. (If you're curious, the song I had for July was Marky Mark's Good Vibrations and I used part of the lyrics for the title.)

I'm still working my way through a pile of scraps by making cards because I can't bear to throw big pieces away. I'm taking the Valentine's Card Class at PageMaps, but who says I have to make valentine cards with the directions?

Both of these cards feature Simple Stories' I Heart Summer line. The colors are so fresh and the little bicycle embellishments totally had to go on a project. I was glad I found a way to use them!

I used my Cuttlebug to emboss several of the layers, and I added dimensional adhesive behind the banners to make them pop. A tiny bit of twine from my stash finished them perfectly. I can't wait to mail them out!

Best Friends: The Cut Shoppe Guest Designer

I was super flattered when Ashley Horton invited me to be a guest design team member for The Cut Shoppe this month. I absolutely adore her files and I own more than I should probably admit! The Spin Cycle cut file caught my eye this time around, so I created a fun layout by backing parts of the the cut file with different patterned papers.

You can totally feel the love that Brandon and Sophie shared in this photo. She truly was his best friend, and he misses her so much. I used Doodlebug's Puppy Love line to create my page. I am a huge fan of the bright colors and the little embellishments are adorable!

If you love this file as much as I do, you can grab it by clicking here.
